From everything I've read, it seems that having your floors refinished before re-painting is the way to go. But we've got a lot of plumbing in our future and that definitely has to be done before the floors are done. So -- is it that bad to paint and then have the floors re-finished? Floors are probably next spring and I don't think i can take another winter with a pink living room! |

From experience with our recently refinished floors - WOAH - what a mess. Though well worth it. The dust gets everywhere. Everywhere. And just when you think it has all settled, there's more. Plus, when you do the floors you have to take out the shoe molding - so that would have to be repainted again. You can paint your pink room - just be prepared for a lot of cleaning and to redo the molding. I know how it all mounts up I'd give anything just to paint - but we too have some reconstruction to do first. I just keep reminding myself that patience is a virtue!?!? |

For both places I have moved into, I paint first, then do the floors. The molding that is scuffed can be touched up and the dust on the walls can be cleaned using a box of Swiffers or Grab-its. I did this because I hate drop clothes and I am an extremely messy painter. |
