I have an area rug we keep under our dining room table that desperately needs cleaning. It's about 5x7 and we paid, oh, eighty bucks for it (it's a
remnant) so I don't want to shell out a bundle to have it cleaned...

Anyone know a good rug cleaner who's reasonable?

I've had a lot of success cleaning my rugs with the BISSELL Deep Cleaning machine. I was able to borrow one from a friend, so I'm not sure how much they cost or about the availability of renting one.

I think they rent those rug cleaning machines at one of the big supermarkets in SO - Pathmark? It's about $25 a day if I recall.

I've had mixed results with the home cleaning machines. It's pretty cumbersome to navigate those wet buckets and always messy.

If you want a cheap and nice rug, it's worth checking out the rugs on sale at Workbench on Morris tnpk (just went into chapter 11). 75% off all rugs - they had rugs that ranged (originally) from $12,000 to $300. 75% off a decent $400 rug is only $100 and you don't have to clean it!

Good luck
