Has anyone done the Maplewood House Tour before? What exactly is it? How are the homes chosen? Do they have any historical significance? Do they talk about the history about the house?

I have taken this tour.

I found it to be very much like an open house walk thru, without the sales aspect.

In my experience, I had a map to find the houses. The houses were open with members of the tour group stationed in various room to keep an eye on things. We just kinda walked around and looked.

I don't know how the homes were chosen.

The homes I saw did not have any historical sigificance.

No one was available to speak about the history of the house.

That said, I was happy with the experience, have and will do it again.

I've done it once. It's kind of like being a voyeur! It's fun and interesting (if that's your thing) to see how people decorate their homes and use the sometimes odd spaces we have. I think the homes are chosen by members of the Rotary Club, and it's pretty much who will allow a few hundred people to traipse through their home.
