Friends who live in West Chester PA were recently married, and since they're big foodies we thought a gift certificate to a great local restaurant would make for a nice wedding present. Any suggestions, either from personal experience or word of mouth? |

Outstanding restaurant called Pace One, which is actually in Thornton PA -- a couple of miles. And, then even sell gift certificates on their site, below. Totally wonderful place. Have eaten several of the best meals of my life there. They will know of it... http://www.paceone.net/

I'm planning to eat here sometime this fall: Simon Pearce http://www.simonpearce.com/restaurants/westchester.asp and a review: THE NEW YORK TIMES, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2001 WHAT'S DOING IN THE BRANDYWINE VALLEY by Jan Benzel "Simon Pearce, (610) 793-0948, the glass blower, has set up shop on the Brandywine at the intersection of Routes 52 and 100, in Lenape, Pa., with an airy restaurant overlooking the river. The chef serves hearty, well-executed dishes that emphasize regional ingredients like the local mushrooms and crab from the nearby Chesapeake Bay. The wine list is small but well chosen and reasonably priced. Downstairs is a glass-blowing workshop where you can watch craftspeople at work. As at the original Simon Pearce in Quechee, Vt., there's a store full of Mr. Pearce's designs. Lunch for two, with wine: about $40" |

If you want a warm country feel try this: http://lngolf.com/farmhouse/index.html And while you're there, make sure you go to visit Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, The Brandywine River Museum, & The Hagley Museum! Cornerstone B&B is a nice place to stay, |

Thanks for all your great suggestions, guys. Anyone ever been to/heard anything about Gilmore's or the Dilworthtown Inn, both in West Chester? Both got great food ratings (27 and 26, respectively) in the Zagat's guide for Philadelphia. |

I've eaten at Simon Pearce in Quechee a few times and if the one in PA is anything like it I'd highly recommend you give it a try.
