Excellent game for eight innings last night, but it really does lack the zing that the Red Sux series had. Not taking anything away from the Marlins, since they did legitimately beat two very good teams and are still in it against the Yankees, but between their line-up and McKewon managing, they kind of remind me of a version of the Cleveland Indians squad in "Major League". Oh and Derek Jeter is not Nomar or Alex Rodriguez or Miguel Tejada because none of them rock in October. And Mariano Rivera is scary good when he is on. I heard a rumor from a friend closely tied in to the sports scene in NYC that Joe Torre will retire after the season, especially if they win, because he is fed up with George and that Bobby Valentine, who Steinbrenner loves, is going to be the one to succeed him. The rumor makes me kind of ill because even die-hard Mets fans had to have had issues with Bobby V. Id rather see a hologram of Gil Hodges in the Yankee dugout if Steinbrenner really wants to stick it to the Mets that bad..but its only a rumor -- time will tell. |

Now let's see, the series is tied at 2-2. I am not saying that the Marlins will win the Series, but am sure the Yankess have found that this is a tough Marlins team. I read they have a $49 million payroll, ($10 million of which is Pudge). I would love to have Cabrera or Juan Pierre, or Dontrelle, or Pavone, Looper, Pudge, Conine etc. on the Mets. I would bet other teams are impressed with some of their players. The Yanks are great, of course, but in my opinion, they would not be where they are today if not for Mariano. He is so amazing, it could bring tears to your eyes. Whatever they pay him is not enough.

Zona, 3-2 Marlins. If only "Boomer" had stretched before the game. |

Drew, Whats your favorite team doing now...golfing? Hunting? Fishing? 3 wins doesnt give anyone a World Series ring. I expect the Yankees to win two in a row at home..if they dont, the Marlins deserve to be champs. But as in most seasons, I've derived much enjoyment already from following this Yankees team. Boomer not stretching should be a lesson to all of us in his age bracket. I suppose I will see you doing a full set of stretches before the Rec Department basketball games now, especially during important championship match-ups. |

Amen, brother. Watch out for the O'Reilly's Five this year. My favorite team is quietly building a contender, from the front office on down (adding Minaya would be nice). While that doesn't replace being a champ, I always find it amazing how the Yanks can win 95 games and the pennant- but if they lose the series to the Marlins, George (and the media) will consider them losers- a mess! Heads will roll! The "Boss" is furious! That's the nutty place the Yanks are in. |

How are the Cubs , & the Socks going to go on making fools of their fans after The Fish win the WS , 10yrs in the league , attempted self destruction , Two World Champion Titles. Theeeeeeeee Yankees are out of magic dust. Although Bernie's blast last nite is out in any other park. |
