We are planning to get the exterior of our house painted. My question to the MOL folks is how often do you have to repaint the exterior once it has been done? We have received two estimates and one painter says every 5 to 7 years, the other guy said every 10 years for the same work. What are your experiences? How do you feel about vinyl siding? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

What ever you do, stay away from vinyl. It's been 5 years since my home was painted and it looks great. Good sanding, priming and quality of paint. You should get 10 years w/o a hitch. Rutgers does a nice job. Michael K. Mc Kell

Our house was painted by the previous owners in 2000. Now part of it is already chipping/peeling. Do we have any recourse with the painting company? The part that's chipping/peeling can't be seen from the street, the rest of the house looks fine. Will there be any damage if we wait another 2 years before we paint the whole house or should we do it next spring? |
