A few updates:

1)As you probably know, the Township Committee agreed to hire an expert to review the work that Certified did. We have been speaking to prospective consultants and getting advice from the NJ Division of Taxation and the Rutgers Center for Government Services. We expect to pass a resolution at Tuesday night's reguarly scheduled Township Committee meeting to hire the expert.

2)Jerry Ryan has posted an analysis of the current Property Tax Relief Act. It is not a solution. Committeewoman Ellen Davenport is leading up a team to have further conversations with State Senator Ron Rice about further legislative options.

3)Ed Galante, Maplewood's assessor, and his assessor team are currently reviewing the letters and forms that have been received by the Township. If you sent a letter or form to us you should have received a confirmation postcard. Once Mr. Galante decides on the next course of action regarding your review, you will receive a letter or phone call with that information.

4)Next Tuesday's Township Committee meeting will include a revaluation update at about 9:15pm. The agenda items prior to the update include three proclamations, the monthly meeting of the Board of Health, the introduction of a new ordinance regarding salaries, a budget presentation by the Maplewood Village Alliance, introduction of the 2001 municipal budget and a discussion with the Township's construction code official on the zoning report by the Community Coalition on Race. Jerry will be posting the agenda on Maplewood on-line.

Vic,

Thanks for keeping us updated!
Will the meeting be open to the public? Also,
if so, will it be held at the highschool again?

Mayor DeLuca- May I respectfully suggest that the TC find a better way to hear residents who attend the TC meeting? A bullhorn is disgraceful, and a person should really be available to adjust the microphone height, etc., should an attendee wish to speak to the TC. Thank you.
