Dr. Harold Pollack in Millburn. He is good, kind and has up to date techniques -- however he is somewhat expensive and has a bent toward cosmetic dentistry.

Could you elaborate a little more on Dr Sabin, he is on my plan and we are, alas, new to the neighborhood. Is he good with children? Mine are 6, 8, and 10. The 10 year old needs 4 adult teeth pulled for braces, and on that note, any recommendations on orthodontists...?

Dr. Sabin is very thorough and friendly with a great staff. I've never waited for an appt., and Dr. Sabin has always laid out all of the options when considering a procedure. I actually take my children to a wonderful children's dentist on Morris Turnpike named Dr. Zia Shay. My 7 y.o. recently needed a shot of novocaine, and Dr. Shay had such a great way with him that my son barely noticed. My niece who is 9 has had multiple teeth pulled there - and she still likes him! There both on my Dental plan (Prudential Dental). I don't have Dr. Shay's number immediately available but if your interested I'll be glad to dig it up.

Dr. Hal Soloman on Valley St in Maplewood (Medical Arts Bldg)762-1350 - very competent, nice guy, great with kids; state of the art? equipment. I was very impressed: the film-less xray equipment with instant computer screen images, apparently uses significantly less radiation than traditional film, is instantly viewable and transmisable (sp?) if you need to consult with another dentist, etc. Give him a try!

I recently went to Dr. Sabin to get a cleaning and a bunch of cavities filled--a total of 3 trips. I was dreading this, as childhood memories of drills, shots and pain came flooding back. But I have to say that Dr. Sabin was great. He explained everything to me beforehand and I really felt no pain. I recommend him.

2nd for Dr. Rosemond. He is great! He's a good dentist, has a great personality and makes you feel really relaxed. He also has aromatherapy candles around the office. I think he is awesome.
