Yes, I've installed over 45 of them now. What is the question? You can DIY, I can do them in about an hour. Pella has installers. |

i was just wondering if the windows are as high quality as they are touted to be and if you could feel a difference in terms of insulation. also, i was wondering if their installers are the way to go. what you said about diy is interesting. i am not totally incompetant at such things but i'm a pretty sloppy worker, and would be worried about the results. i will explore the option, however. thanks. |

Pella makes a great replacement window and yes there is a difference in the insulation, however installation is key here. Any contractor can install them and realitivly easy as mentioned above. Pella will only measure if they install. There windows fit nice w/o disturbing interior / exterior trim. (In most cases)

I can be talked into it, but I have a day job these days. Time becomes an issue. Better yet, I can teach you. I can show you and help you measure the first couple, I can help you with the order and you can have my discount (I've ordered so many I picked up a contractors discount), and I can help you with the first one or two installations. Then you go DIY and I answer questions. Would that work for you? |

We bought our first 3 Pella windows at the Pella store in Springfield. Pella DID come out and measure even though my husband was goining to install them. The 1st window he did took 12 hours, the second 8 and the third 5 hours - that's from the start of prep to the end of clean up. He's a perfectionist. We went back to purchase the next set of 8 at Pella, when husband recalled seeing Pella windows at Lowes. Went to Lowes - same grad of window - different name - $900 less then Pella. Bought windows at Lowes. They came out and measured and then delivered them. |

I hope you mean the price was $900 less of the total, not $900 less per window?! what was the brand you bought at lowe's? true divided light? other features? thanks!! |

$900 less of the total. About $125 less per window. Not a true divided light -they were way out of our price range. The Pella 'brand' at Lowes was the 8000 series - I think - I have to find the paperwork and check. It was the same window as Pella's Architecture series. |

I was assuming based on what I have read that Pella's were around $500 for a 30" x 60" - is this your experience? also, what did installation run? we bought some hybrid vinyl w/wood veneer interiors for some replaced windows, and while they do look good and are an improvement over the mismatched bargain basement windows they replaced, I don't love them. So I am exploring these higher-grade options for other windows that need replacing. thanks for all your information. |

Are the Pella windows sold at Lowes the custom made insert windows? Me thinks that they are the new frame windows made to fixed sizes. |

George, I really appreciate the offer but i don't want to do them myself for a whole bunch of reasons but primarily because I don't think the quality will be as good. i'm not a very neat or efficient worker. also, i don't get paid when i don't work and frankly i think i'll end up missing enough work putting in windows to lose more money than I saved doing it myself. the Lowe's issue is interesting and I will look into that. |

Yes - they are the custom made insert ones. Lowes sent out a contractor to measure for $25.

We ordered 2 Pella Storm doors from the Flanders' Lowes. It's a little over a 30 min drive out Rt 80, and then south on Rt 206 about 1 1/2 miles. They were installed on Thursday, and I recommend them! They took the $25 (measuring fee) off the order. |

Is there a better way to get to Lowe's in Piscataway than the one I am using? I take the GSP to Rt 1 West to 287 North. |

alan, See www.nfrc.org for info on windows and how they are rated. Also, while you are in the attic, take a look around at the insulation, air leakage, signs of condensation, etc. Depending on your reasons for putting in new windows, while you should go with the best that you can afford, new windows will generally not make a huge difference in energy efficiency and will cost a lot of money. |

thanks tourne. efficiency is one reason for the desired change. my wife is hyperventialting abotu that and I keep telling her it will barely be noticed. a few of our windows look pretty shabby and none of them operate all that well, either. |
