I haven't heard of a local studio but would be interested. There are Pilates classes offered at the St Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, across from the Livingston mall. Mat work only, but good.....

Cross-training Fitness Studio on Millburn Ave. offers a Mats class based on Pilates.

2Shoes and Blh: do you have to join St. Barnabas or Cross Training to take the classes or can you just sign up for those classes alone? Are they expensive? I too would be interested in any information on Pilates in the area. Thanks!

3mom: You do have to join Cross Training. What I like about it is that your membership is either for classes or personal training -it's not a place that people hang out to meet other hardbodies. I think the monthly membership is now about $65/mo for unlimited classes, they also offer yoga, circuit training, step, spinning, and more. They have childcare available most of the time, I think its $2/hour (sorry, you have to be in the gym to use it:))
There's probably an initial membership fee for new members, though negotiation can bring that down.
Well, now I think I'm getting myself psyched to go back. I haven't been there in a while. :(

Have fun.

3mom - you don't have to join the gym to take classes at St Barnabas. The discount you get on classes when you sign up for the gym is not worth the price difference unless you are really going to use the gym. They also have free childcare during class as well as any other service you may need at the center, such as doctor, x-ray, etc. with reservations ahead of time [and only for people using the site]. I haven't been since the fall but will probably go back in the spring. Good luck!

2shoes and Blh -- thanks for the info, and Cheetah, thanks for asking the question! Now I just need to find the time . . .
