We're looking to replace some windows. All windows have frames painted white (some are painted shut...). In some cases we'd like to replace with wood interior, either wood veneer or true wood depending on window and budget. Can anyone estimate how much it would cost to strip the paint on the frame of such a job (say 94"w x 54"h, 33"x39", 30"x54"), rather than (shudder) replace the whole frame? I think the latter is out of the question for our budget. There would be several years of paint accumulated, undoubtedly moulding would have to be replaced etc. Any guidance much appreciated, and yes I am a rank amateur in the arena of window replacement.

Some of the windows are casements and the only replacements I know of are vinyl with wood veneer interior (well Marvin would be overkill for these windows). Haven't reached a judgement on wood veneer painted white (does it look better than the institutional look of vinyl interior?).

I think that's it for now, thanks.
