Folks:
We're new to SO and I am in need of a recommendation for either an ophthalmologist or optometrist who is very good at fitting contact lenses. I have low vision and rigid lenses provide the best correction for me.

Having just moved away from an optometrist with infinite patience and top notch skills and knowledge of the latest polymer and fabrication technologies, I can only hope to find a similarly qualified individual willing to take the time to work with me.

Thanks in advance.

p.x.

Short Hills Opthamology in Milburn. Dr. Ball is very nice as is the office staff. I think Dr. Robbins may be in with him.

SUE COGGER is a specialist in contact lens fittings; she teaches this art at the medical schools in NYC and has been written up in the NY papers for her specialty practice in difficult fitting lenses. Downside: her office is in NYC on the East side (close to Bloomies) and she ain't cheap. I have worn hard lenses for 20+ years, and she made me bifocal (concentric) lenses when it became nescessary. If you can afford the time and $ to see her, you won't find a better fit or lens. (212) 758-0973; 209 E 56th (unless shse has moved). Good luck!
