Is there a connection between Maplewood's receiving zero additional school funds and this revaluation? You better believe it.

The sales/assessment ratio for Maplewood topped 400%. That means that the ratio of actual sales data to assessed values was around 4.0. This sent up red flags in Trenton.

The State of NJ penalizes municipalities for running a sloppy operation. Since schools are the largest portion of the budget, the school funding gets withheld.

This forces the town to perform a revaluation, bringing the sales/assessment ratio to within acceptable tolerances.

No one in the TC has told you this. They weren't going to. They wanted the reval pushed through so this won't come to light.

The TC failed our kids. They failed us. Our attorney, Mr. Desidario, who is responsible for knowing NJ and municipal law, failed us.

The reval is absolutely being pushed through by the TC even though they know it's faulty. Pushed through to cover their tracks.

Sure Millburn got money. Their sales/assessment ratio wasn't 400%!!

The TC wants YOU to pay for their mistakes. Your new assessments will be the launching ground for new and higher taxes for the next TEN years, not just 2001. And disproportionally high due to the lack of state funding to our schools.

I would like to see an investigation move forward as to the fiduciary conduct of our Township Committee. I would like to determine what actions can be taken legally to prevent one injustice being propogated in order to cover up for another.

PS Have you noticed the conspicuous lack of postings by G. Ryan and V. De Luca the last few days? Where's the zoning map promised at the televised meeting? Where's the responses to concerned citizens as the deadline for assessor review draws near?

Bix:
You are talking powerfully.
But, knowing these towns as only a dead white male can, I propose you specify the proofs about crappy government begets fecal care.
Obvious, pragmatic, observation-based truths do not have any impact on government in these towns.
Is it possible Trenton reads M on line?

As this thread is a cross-post, please see answers from Jerry Ryan under Maplewood Reval section "Connection between ZERO school funds and this reval?"

I was at Tuscan a couple of weeks ago, and the principal told a roomful of people that the school system had just received an additional 1.5 million dollars in funding from the state.

Did I imagine that? Did they take it back?
