I heard someone say that the old Bradlees at the intersection of 22 & the GSP will become a Lowes. I see that construction appears ready to begin, but I didnt see any signs indicating exactly what is coming. Any info?

I am almost certain it will become a Lowe's, but their corporate policy is not to make any announcements until the structure is almost complete. There were some barriers that had to be overcome, one being Lowe's needed a building considerably larger than the prior Bradlees, and there were concerns about the other merchants in that plaza. From what you saw, is the Lowe's going to be situated in the same spot as the Bradlees?

Fortunately, you will be able to access it from Morris Avenue, without ever having to get on Rt 22.

Yeah! We love Lowe's, it is so much easier to shop than Home Depot, and let's hope the service is better.

YES! We've been traipsing out to the Lowe's past Dover on I-80, and also the one down in Matawan(?)on Route 9 below the GSP Exit 123. It'll be nice to have one up here farily locally. Recently, I've discovered the Sears Hardware store in Essex Green (lots of small pieces of hardware, very slow service, but never crowded), and the ACE Hardware on Eisenhower Parkway near I-280.

Oh...for the days of our old local Maplewood Hardware (Maplecrest? how soon we forget!) on Springfield Avenue near Maplecrest Park...and even longer ago, the one in South Orange where Blockbuster is now....

When needed, I usually drop into the Lowes in North Bergen on 1 & 9 (pain in the butt to get too)or the one one in Piscataway on 287 exit 6 (very quick via GSP)

us2innj, there is a gate that has been placed around Bradlees, but far out into the parking lot.
I think they will probably gut the Bradlees and expand the building forward.
