I know this is not quite arts or dining, etc., but I figured it was better posted here than in the Home Repair section... I'm thinking about Lasik. I have a 7 week old infant and would love to not have to fumble for my glasses for those middle of the night feedings. So...What doctor did you use, and how did you find him/her? Did you take Valium or some kind of sedative? I am guessing they use local anasthesia, but someone told me that they didn't use ANY!! My ob and the pediatrician both said that it was fine to get Lasik, as long as there are no narcotics involved. Even if that, if I really wanted it done soon I could, but not to use any of the b-milk I produce for a day or two. Does that sound right? How was recovery time? And you're 20/20 now? And if I decide to stick with glasses, any reco's on the eyeglass shops in town? Thanks a million, Melonious the Blind |

I had LASIK and highly recommend it. best money I ever spent. I am now 20/20. there's another thread on this - you may want to try the "search" function. long story short for me: my eye doctor ended up doing a good job, but I had some interim issues, and at the end of the day my recommendation is to go to someone who does this all the time, not just 1 or 2 x per month. I had a great, intelligent, thorough friend who researched a ton and ended up using and loving Joseph Dello Russo. advertises a lot, which is offputting, but from what I hear he really is the best in the business. anesthesia: 1/2 to 1 valium. that's it. maybe an eye drop anesthetic, but honestly there's absolutely no pain, only stress/fear. your spouse can watch, and honestly I think it's more stressful/fearful for them to see what's going on on the monitor. don't know about nursing, but I imagine the eye Dr or your OB can tell you effects of the very minor medication you'll take. good luck. |

Dr. Perl in Livingston is the best. He did my eyes, and a friend of mine several years ago. I'm very happy, and so is my friend! My eye sight is 20/20. I had a -8.5 prescription! |

Has anyone had the LASIK and had any nightmare stories to tell? Anyone wishing they had not gone thru with it? Just curious! What did the job with Dr. Della Russo cost? I hear he has his son doing the procedures too. |
