Hate to pose this question again but it seems that the most recent archived reccomendations I can find are from 2001. Has anyone had any experience using any other house painters besides Rutgers? Please let us all know. They seem to be becoming the only game in town, and from their prices, they know it.

Thanks!

We had a bad experience with a local contractor with exterior painting. Lots of people have told us that we should have hired Rutgers. Next time (which hopefully will not be for several years) we definitely will.

We used Mario's Painting this past Spring (as did several of our neighbors). His prices were much cheaper than Rutgers.

Overall, he did a good job. He broke a few bushes around the house, but nothing major went wrong. For the money saved, it was well worth it.

I believe he and his father(who also paints with Mario) used to work for Rutgers.

We were very happy with the work done by Pintona. Rutgers jobs always seem to go on for weeks. Pintona completed the work in less than a week and did an excellent job.

Rutgers , I think they are off to Costa Rica for the winter now , but they did a great job on my house.

We repaired many homes prior to Rutgers arrival and must say they always did a great job.
Kevin is a good guy, local and has painted many homes in the area as you all can see.

Stay away from Murphy's (from So OR ). The paint is peeking off . It looks like they did not put on the final coat of paint in many places .They were very much in a hurry . The house is white and we repainted it white ; so the problem with the paint was not noticeable until the house had weathered a bit .
Also, the cost was not cheap . We did not go with the cheapest estimate .Next time I'll use Rutgers or Pintona .
Unfortunately , I was working and was not around to see what they were doing . They also hire teenagers to paint for them who aren't too concerned about the paint job.

There is also a guy, Olivera Painting, which I can emphatically say no to. Half the price of Rutgers, but was willing to do it about a week after the end of the Rutgers season. Paint is not holding up badly but my feeling is the prep was a little shoddy, they were sloppy about cleanup, and the fact is, I have had to do a few touch ups (which thankfully don't show at all).

If I make it 5 years with this paint I'll be happy and hire rutgers to re-do it.

The house needs a good scape (95%) and fresh paint (2 colors), what's the going price for house painting these days? I'm just looking for ballpark figures.

Any comments re painters for stucco houses? Our wood trim definitely needs painting and the stucco may also need to be painted although perhaps not as urgently ... I'm not convinced that the best painters for wood siding are automatically the best for stucco, so wondering if other stucco homeowners could weigh in?

Sac, with Stucco,my choice would be to use a sprayer because of the texture. Painting this with a roller isn't easy.

Boozy,
Your gonna see $5K-10K plus and carpentry work necessary prior to application.
I know of a painter who is reasonable and good.
Small operation we hire to do the painting, stripping and staining.
If your interested just send me a private note.
