The last thing you want to do is to keep moisture around the foundation of your house. This will lead to water in the basement. The outflow from your gutters should be directed away from the house and the ground around the house should be graded so that water flows away from the foundation.

Kenney - We noticed immediate improvement when we took up the old, back-pitched sidewalk against the house & replaced it with properly graded soil. |

thanks all for your input. We put in a french drain in the spring and i have altered the gutters from going directly into the ground to out into the yard. This may be enough, but to be sure I was thinking of putting something around the exterior base of the house at an angle to help aborb and drain the water(snow) away. to all my thoughts, add to the end: or not. |
