At noon time today I heard that the two kids who killed the Dartmouth professors have been caught. Thank heavens! Now, don't you think it's about time we hear something regarding the Maplewood woman who was killed in her own home? Are there no leads here? The public needs some assurances that our police are working on this case. |

The residents of Richmond Avenue have been active in trying to get answers. We have met several times with the Mayor (past and present) and the Police Chief. The investigation is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and two Maplewood detectives are assigned full-time. The major impediment is that much of the physical evidence has not been analyzed due to a backlog in the State Police lab. THis is particularly troubling since the case seems to be one where analysis of the physical evidence is key. They still expect it to be months away. It appears that the best thing to do is to write, call etc all public officials, including the Governor. His address is: P.O> Box 001, Trenton, Nj 08625 and his number is 609-292-6000. The Richmond residents intend to keep up the pressure, and urge others to do the same. |

I think all citizens of NJ should be terrified that crimes like murders aren't solved because of backlogs. I'll be writing to our acting gov. I suppose we should contact our other elected officials, but I'm embarrassed to say I only know Corzine, Torricelli, and DiFrancesco. Any others? Who took DiFrancesco's place when he went to Trention? Alidah |

DiFrancesco was already in Trenton. He is a state senator and is President of the Senate. By nature of that position he is now acting governor (because Whitman resigned to join the Bush cabinet). He holds both positions; if he were to resign the senate presidency he would not be acting governor any more. Jack Collins is speaker of the assembly. Local senator: Ron Rice Local assembly: Fred Caraballo, Craig Stanley |

Is there any truth to the story that the day after the murder a man was found hanged next door to the murder site ? If true, is there a relationship ? |

A man in the neighborhood did commit suicide by hanging recently. It certainly was not the day after the murder. |
