We just got stair treads, the kind that look like an oval braided rug - they were SUPPOSED to be non-skid...what is the best way to tack them down without damaging the lovely hard wood beneath? thanks in advance! |

You can use decorative bars that span the bottom of the risers for added support. You will still need to tack the runner down with brad nails or staples since the bars are mostly for decorative purposes. We had a runner installed last year and they used electric staple guns. |

Liz, My suggestion would be either: 1 or 2 small brad nails on the ends OR Double Sided Carpet Tape. I've used the carpet tape at my parents to hold runners down and last year when we replaced the runner (and had to do the tape too) it peeled right up without making a mark. Richard |

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I am off to Home Depot...to also buy some salt/sand/etc for this noreaster that's brewing :-) |
