We're expecting our first child and are just becoming familiar with all of the baby-type shops around town. I'm decorating the nursery and want to order/buy the crib bedding, window treatments, etc. now. However, I was disappointed with Crib City and Babys-R-Us. Any ideas for unique bedding in Northern NJ or NYC? Thanks! |

Try catalogs. Company Kids, Garnet Hill, Pottery Barn Kids all have really nice (if expensive) stuff. |

Try Eddie Bauer or Pottery Barn kids. We got our things from Eddiebauer.com. They have everything from furniture to bedding to accessories. For stores, there is also Buy, Buy Baby in either Paramus or Secaucus (I can't remember which). |

There's Kids Decor (funky-2 years ago, anyway) on Millburn Ave. in Millburn, and the other baby store further down the street also sells bedding. Pamela Scurry's Wicker Garden (classic) on Madison Ave. (NYC) will set you back a bundle but it is exquisite. Think of it as an heirloom (that's how I justified it)! |

The Right Start Store in Short Hills Mall and catalog. A similar catalog is One Step Ahead. |

I got furniture at Crib World, way out on Rt. 10 towards Morris Plains on the left. They were pretty cheap. For bedding, the Martha Stewart stuff at K-mart is suprisingly cute. |

Village Kids in South Orange has furniture (some hand-painted) and bedding. Don't know how their prices are since my kids are way past that stage. |

Thank you everyone for the great leads! I knew there had to be more out there than Winnie the Pooh at Babys-R-Us. I requested copies of the various catalogs cited above. I think I definitely will be able to find something special. This weekend I plan on making a full day of running around. |

Best I have seen (and I have a 6-week-old so i have been researching!) is www.babycenter.com shopping. They have everything, and great prices. |

the best kid's decor catalog is called Land of Nod. They don't do mass mailings and the stuff's not cheap. Check 800 info and I'll try to find a copy to get you the number. |

BTW, not bedding related, EToys is going out of business and their entire stock is on sale. |

Etoys and babycenter are the same company, FYI. And they have GREAT deals right now. |

Sorry, off subject, but pertaining to babies, is there a Babies R Us nearby? Thanks. |

The nearest Babies R Us is on Rt 22 next to the Target -- about 7 miles from here, I think. |

I got some good deals at Babycenter today on toddler clothes. There are lots of toy deals also (EToys and Babycenter) but I passed on those. |
