while stumping in Missouri last weekend, she joked that legendary Indian leader Mohandas Gahndi was someone who "ran a gas station down in St. Louis"......

Clinton later did apologize.......

Dean with his rebel flag & Hillary with her gas station Indians........

where's the pc love & multi-cultural inclusiveness?

Sheesh, these political parties. Imagine if it was the republicans who made this kind of wisecrack. Oh the humanity!

In his days as leader of the non violent movement in India, Gandhi walked everywhere. From the North to the South, Gandhi traveled it all, all without shoes. And he didn’t brush his teeth, either, so his breath was pretty bad. Since he walked so far and did not eat much in the way of food, he got very thin and physically weak. All in all, he was a super-calloused, fragile mystic, vexed with halitosis!

I notice the lack of postings on this thread from MOL's liberal population. I wonder why that is?

Could Mem be on to something? "Imagine if it was the republicans who made this kind of wisecrack."

Or is it that this was Hillary trying to show that she's one of us?

Give us a break here. It was a joke. Yet, in typical spineless, liberal fashion, Hillary clarified her statement on Monday saying she never meant to fuel the stereotype often used as a comedic punch line that certain ethnic groups run America's gas stations. She then went back to her room at the local Patel Motel.

Well I tried, but congrats to Duncan. Witty and nicely done.

Now back to Mem's comment. Can you imagine if a Senate Republican said this? The Democrats would be calling for their head, demand their resignation, require sensitivity training and condemn them outright. But like Robert "KKK" Byrd, Democrats get a total pass when they make supposedly "insensitive" statements. Why is that?

I'm waiting for tom, Llama, or any of the usual suspects to comment.

Ghandi himself said that forgiveness should be a way of life, and not an occassional act. Hillary apologized -- and I believe Dean should have -- so why not move on, and have a discussion about something substantial? Everyone puts there foot in their mouth from time to time.

The best defense is to ignore or label. Yogi, applies both methods here.

However, I very much look forward to the comments of Ashear, Montagnard, Ukealalio, mayhew drive, et al… Where is your defense of Hillary?

Don't look for me to defend Hillary. This was an idiotic statement.

The quote from Duncan has been on the net and in print many times. A search on Google will show several dating back quite a while including this page with several other political jokes - http://abraxis.sytes.net/skinny/workshop/JokeBook

An oldie but goodie.

What was the situation when Hillary made that (inappropriate) remark? Was she speaking in public? Or was she speaking privately to a small number of people? If it was in public, then I am surprised that there hasn't been more outcry about it.

Notehead,

She was speaking in public in front of an audience and camera. It was just an off color remark and to be honest kind of funny.

Glad to hear that from you Ashear.

Nothead, read Redsox post. Hillary was obviously helping a farmer in Missouri remove some stumps.

The reason this isn't a big deal is because the elites have decided that when a Democrat says something like this, it is a joke. When a Republican says it, they mean it.

'Cause is was a small incident, and it's kinda' petty to carry on about it.
But, don't let me stop you if you want to, anyway.
