The Spelman College Jazz Ensemble (with honored guest Branford Marsalis) will be at the South Orange Middle School on Saturday, March 17th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $100. This is a benefit concert. All donations are tax deductible and benefit the Scholarship Fund of the Northern NJ Spelman College Alumnae Association. Spelman college is one of only 2 historically black colleges for women and their jazz ensemble is one of the few all women college jazz bands in the country. For more information please call (732) 424-7961. (This is better than getting drunk on Irish whiskey any day, even St Pat's!) Bacata |

Glad you liked it. We did, too. I confess to a small disappointment in that I had really hoped (convinced myself) that Branford Marsalis would play one number with the ensemble after receiving the award. Other than that it was terrific. Oh, and that piece they did in honor of Diane from Je's was a really nice piece. I'd like to get the arrangement for that. I loved Lisa Green's vocals! It was nice that the whole place was sold out, too! Bacata |
