Anyone know of a good honest place to get your oil changed in this area? We'd rather not use Jiffy Lube again - bad service for an unreasonably high rpice. |

Maybe for an oil change but nothing else! We had a REALLY bad experience with them a few years ago. They fixed our original electrical problem temporarily but then our driver window and stereo went the next day! They claimed they didn't do it. Nonsense!! If it wasn't so darned expensive to take someone to court, we would have done it. And the prices!!! Sorry, it's a sore subject with us! |

I just used Ridgewood Auto on S. Orange Avenue to have my car prepped for a trip to Florida - they were recommended on this board awhile ago. They were great - very friendly and accomodating. Couldn't tell you how much the oil change was, as I also had to have new front brakes and some other work, so the bill was rather hefty. I went back last week to have them put in a new headlight for me, which I had bought at the Napa store on Valley St., thinking I could change it myself. Wishful thinking. Anyway, Ridgewood Auto changed it for me - no charge. I definitely recommend giving them a try. |

Try South Orange Friendly Getty on Irvington Ave. by Tichner. Great service and honest people. I'm a regular customer and never had a problem. They give you a estimate before you get the work done. The owner's name is Frank 762-3634. |

Maplewood Tire Co. Very reasonable price - reliable and thorough. But maybe you won't want to go to a place on Springfield Ave.? |

Not sure about oil changes specifically, but we also like Boyden Friendly Service (Amoco station) at the corner of Boyden Avenue and Jacoby Street. They are a full service station and they do State Inspections (which is not the case with all auto service places.) |

I second Maplewood Tire. We use them for just about everything and are thoroughly satisfied. |

Only good experiences with Nelson's. Great guy and, if you commute to the city, unbeatable convenience. |

Another alternative for convenience which leads to some of the options mentioned above is the Concierge Service at the train station. I believe that Maplewood Tire is on their list and some of the services not provided by Maplewood Tire are done by Boyden Friendly Service. |
