I've been curious about this computer game for a while. I've just won the Playstation version on ebay and was wondering if anyone out there has played either the PC or PS version. Any comments? (PS Jerry, I know Nintendo has a "Lord Of The Rings" game but nothing for PS-yet!) |

Ejt, I thoroughly enjoyed Myst. There are no clear rules or instructions. You just have to figure out stuff as you go along. When you start to solve the mysteries, (i.e. what do the switches do?) the story begins to reveal itself. There are webites devoted to Myst and its sequel, Riven. I definitely recommend you play, pick some cool rainy day. Have fun. Dtunck |

Ejt: never been the RPG type, and I don't have Nintendo or PS. JRRT would have said that such machines were from Mordor... |

Thanks Dytunck! I can't wait to check it out. Is this a role playing game? Jerry, never played them either but since we bought the kids the PS I couldn't resist. Now they're probably going to have to fight me to get on the thing! I'll bet after the movies start coming out PS will have the game. Then maybe you'll buy a PS? For your kids of course! |

Ejt: Playing Myst is like emerging from the womb. At first there is nothingness. Then envelloping sounds and finally light. The Myst world expands only as you interact with it. Beware, little is what it seems. Before you start playing, invest in a thick notebook and some well sharpened pencils. Clues are everywhere: in the sounds you hear, the objects you see. Throughout the game you will be faced with puzzles that are best solved through trial and error. Be sure to record the permutations you have tried or you will find yourself stuck for a long time. By the way, even though I never completed the game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. PS: If you get stuck let me know. I still have a hint book for the game around someplace. |

I completed the game without a hint. It took some time, but the result was very satisfying. |

Thanks all for your input and thanks for the offer Joan! I'm going to attempt sans the hints! With all the websites that offer them, it may be hard to resist! |

Jerry, Did you ever play SimCity? You get to be Mayor of your own town. You can make all the decisions that affect the citizens...raise the taxes, re-zone, build a thriving metropolis. It comes complete with natural disasters, to throw a little wrench into things. There is no revaluation feature, alas, to challenge the players. D |
