I'm looking to pick up some furniture at local estate sales, but I am not sure where to find out about them! Any thoughts?

The Millburn-Short Hills Item has lots in Short Hills and Montclair.

Also, there is an auction house in Orange. Lincoln Galleries. Monthly auctions. Go on Monday, March 12 for the preview. Auction is tues and wed. You can leave a bid. I couldn't sit through two days of auctioneering.

A friend of mine who is involved in the estate sale circuit says to check the classifieds in the News Record and Star-Ledger and (particularly) to look for a block of ads (with a title) for Estate Sales each week in the Sunday Star-Ledger classifieds.

I went to Lincoln Galleries last night, too, and even put in a silent bid. I don't expect to win, but I'm curious to see how outrageous (or not) the bids get. For future reference, I noticed they had a schedule with estimates of when certain categories of items would be auctioned, i.e. furniture at 3:00, rugs 3:15 (just examples, not reality). For those who live or work close by and can steal away for an hour, you might be able to bid in person.

Hey there, I went too! Maybe I saw you! The owner was very helpful in terms of helping estimate what the various items would go for. I put in several silent bids, all very low, and like you I am interested to see the results.

I was there with two of my neighbors, and we were just really trying to feel out the place. I've heard of some good deals, but you never know what is someone's definition of a good deal.

Does anyone know how often these auctions are held at Lincoln Galleries?

Thanks!

Once a month. Their website is www.lincolnmg.com.

They have the full year's calendar available.
