We are in the Tuscan district but opted to try the demonstration school this year. However, my six year old is having a difficult time making friends there, and I am considering switching back to Tuscan which the majority of the children in our neighborhood attend, thinking that maybe a community school would encourage stronger bonds between our child and other kids. I know that Tuscan went through a lot of changes this past year; can anyone offer any advice or observations that might help us make a better decision? Thanks! |

We currently have two kids in Tuscan, our first went through K-5. We've always loved the school, and it remains, after all the changes (new principals and asst principal, new teachers) a strong and interesting school community. In our experience, the school seems to get the balance right. Both of our kids have nice circles of neighborhood friends. The parents of the younger classes are as active and enthusiastic as the older kids' parents are, so the general consensus is that things are continuing along nicely. The school show comes up in two weeks: March 24, 25 and 26, so maybe you should plan to attend one. It will give you an idea of the place. Many of the new teachers are excellent: our daughter,in first grade is lucky to have one of them. And the best veterans seem to be actively mentoring the younger ones, so that seems good, too. Some quick observations, but I hope it helps.... |
