This while temps struggle to hit zero degrees!

Yeah! He only has the consensus of scientific opinion on his side! What an idiot! He should read some of the minority reports written by industry funded researchers! They are much more important the the consensus of scientific belief, which is what got us the moon and back and created modern surgery!

I heard he believes in gravity! Didn't that go out with the dark ages! Hello, Darwin? What an idiot! I would smash all the scientific instuments in the country if I were Minister of Culture! When I hear the word science I reach for my revolver!

!!

Posted on another thread as well. I share your thinking Straw.

Al Gore is speaking about Global Warming again...

And he picked the coldest day of the year in New York City to do it. The purpose of course for Al Gore's speech in NYC today is to slam Bush for his "inaction" on global warming. Gore isn't going to be deterred by the fact that the temperature in New York is supposed to be the coldest in ten years .. 1 degree above zero. In fact, he's reportedly going to make the case that this cold weather is actually caused by global warming which, of course, is caused by George Bush.

I'm not going to go through the evidence again here just suffice it to say that there is absolutely no scientific evidence out there which shows that any measurable increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere is being caused by the actions of man. There is evidence, however, strong scientific evidence, that sunspot and other activity has actually been making the surface of the son hotter for quite some time.

Evidently liberals and anti-capitalist eco-radicals aren't able to make the rational connection between a hotter sun and a hotter earth.

Why blame it on the sun when you have such a good opportunity to slam capitalism and slow down America's industrial machine?

Only in America.

However, I do believe that we contribute to damaging the earth's atmosphere and ozone layer. There was an article in Nat Geo about cooking fires in the middle east and southeast asia having a major impact on the atmoshere over there currently.

"I'm not going to go through the evidence again here just suffice it to say that there is absolutely no scientific evidence out there which shows that any measurable increase in the temperature of the earth's atmosphere is being caused by the actions of man"

But that is just wrong. It aint true. No wonder whoever wrote that didn't want to go through the evidence.

Man does warm things up, but not to the extent the doomsayers claim or that Nature does by itself (which cannot be stopped).

Okay, so if Nature has natural warming cycles, shouldn't man (and woman) try to minimize human contribution to those cycles? Why not try to reduce our impact? The changes that will accompany even a natural warming can be enormous--why make the warming worse? Why not try to find alternative fuels (for cars and for cooking fires) where possible? That is not liberal--it is conservative and common sense.

whoa there mfpark...you are feeding the trolls. The people responding to this "Strawism" have no interest in helpful discourse. They are simply here to vent their collective spleens.

Mankind taking actions along the lines of trying to drain the ocean with a pail and paying billions to do so and harming your economy is not a conservative idea -- primarily because it doesn't work. The enormous cost just adds to the reasons for not doing it.

They are looking for alternative fuel sources. One may well be on the moon -- fusion and solar energy being microwaved to the earth per the wires today.

A lesson for those who don't have any "insite":

Global warming doesn't have anything to do with today's local weather forecast, and at your simple level of thinking, there are parts of the globe that are warm right now. The display of your ignorance is just foolish and highlights your limited scope.

Solar energy being microwaved to the earth? How can someone accept that kind of Jules Verne idea, but not think limiting CO2 is possible and desirable? It's a scientific scepticism misallignment.

It got up to 98 degrees F in Alice Springs, Australia today. But since the earth is flat, that probably doesn't mean anything.

mrosner, you should save that EPA link to your disk. One Karl Rove gets wind of it they'll be sure to take it down.

trying to develop renewable energy sources on earth is impractical, and will destroy the economy, but searching for energy sources in space is a good idea?

huh?

who's in charge of US energy policy? Rube Goldberg?
