Anytime a liberal opens their mouth, there is an excellent chance that something ridiculous will come out. Here are some of the stupidest things people have said lately. Sen. John F. Kerry - "I saw a poll the other day that showed me about 15 points ahead of her,” [Democratic presidential candidate, Kerry, claiming he leads Hillary in the polls. The campaign later admitted that Kerry "misspoke."] Time to "change the dynamics" I suppose... [Editor's Note: the most recent Quinnipiac University poll shows Hillary leading Kerry by 36 points.] Gen. Wesley Clark - "First of all I would change the Secretary of Defense. Then I would go to the commanders of the ground and go to Iraq myself personally and I would develop an exit strategy that gives us a success and lets us downsize our commitment there." [The anointed one, Wesley Clark, announcing that he will fire Sec. of Def. Don Rumsfeld] Is this guy running for president or Chairman of the Joint Chiefs? Judge Richard Clifton, 9th Circus Court - "Can a bank robber with a concealed gun who never mentions or insinuates having one, but who displays it inadvertently, be convicted of armed bank robbery? We believe the answer is no..." (Judge Clifton, writing in the ruling on the case of armed bank robber in L.A.) Can a court with no sense, who certainly never displays any signs of intelligence, be taken seriously? We believe the answer is NO. Robert C. Byrd, D-KKK - "I do question the motives of a desk-bound president who assumes the garb of a warrior for the purposes of a speech...This is not some made-for-TV backdrop for a campaign commercial." (Former Klansman Byrd, criticizing Bush's speech on aircraft carrier) I guess you would have preferred that he 'assume the garb' of a white hooded sheet. Warren Buffett - "I am not for the Bush plan. It screams of injustice...it is the equivalent to us giving a lesser percentage of our incomes to Washington than the people working in our shoe factories." (Investor Buffett speaking at annual Berkshire-Hathaway gathering, criticizing the Bush tax cut plan) For a guy thought of as one of the best investors in the world, you're not very good with fractions. Bill Clinton - "Our paradigm now seems to be: something terrible happened to us on September 11, and that gives us the right to interpret all future events in a way that everyone else in the world must agree with us. And if they don't, they can go straight to hell." (Former President Clinton, at a seminar of governance, blasting Bush's foreign policy) Maybe if you had bothered to interpret any future events other than future lawsuits, there wouldn't have been any September 11. Janeane Garafalo - "I would be so willing to say I'm sorry, I hope to God I can be made a buffoon of, that people will say you were wrong, you were a fatalist, and I will go to the White House on my knees on cut glass and say, hey, you were right, I shouldn't have doubted you. But I tend to think that is preposterous." (Actress Garafalo, on The O'Reilly Factor March 6, after being asked if she would apologize to Bush if we do liberate Iraq, the Iraqi people appreciate us, and we do find "all kinds of bad, bad stuff") Apparently God heard your wishes, because you look like a buffoon now more than ever. Better get down on your knees, Janeane. Ramsey Clark - "Regime change! George Bush has to go and we have the power to do it. The officials of the government shall be removed from office for crimes and misdemeanor; their crime against peace, and for use of torture in Iraq." (Former LBJ Attorney General, Clark, quoted on March 31, 2003) And what, pray tell, would you have us do to your administration for Vietnam? Madonna - "It is not me being anti-Bush, it's me being ironic and tongue-in-cheek." (Madonna, quoted after throwing a grenade in the lap of a George W. Bush look-a-like during her music video American Life) Well if throwing grenades at the president doesn't qualify as "anti-Bush", I'd really hate to see what does. Michael Moore - "We live in fictitious times. We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you. Shame on you." (Director Michael Moore in his Oscar acceptance speech) No, your life is making fictitious movies. The rest of us know how to separate real life from fictitious Hollywood. Rep. Marcy Kaptur - "One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown." (Kaptur, D-Ohio, comparing Osama bin Laden to our founding fathers) Riiiiiiight...History must have conveniently left out the time George Washington sailed the Mayflower smack into Britain and killed 3,000 people. Mary Grierson - "Send your troops home and take me instead, on behalf of everyone in the world who does not want war and oppression." (New Zealand peacenik challenging Bush to stay away from Iraq and crucify her instead. The only catch is Bush would have to hammer the nails himself) Actually, wrong guy there. Saddam is the one who prefers the crucifixion process; not Bush. Rep. Dick Gephardt - "I'm not the political flavor of the month. I'm not the flashiest candidate around." (Gephardt announcing his candidacy for Democratic presidential nomination) You can say that again. Abdul Jabbar al-Quraishi - "We are happy that it broke up. God wants to show that his might is greater than the Americans. They have encroached on our country. God is avenging us." (Iraqi government employee expressing jubilation over the loss of the Columbia shuttle and its crew) Just keep talking, pal. Sheryl Crow - "I think war is based in greed and there are huge karmic retributions that will follow. I think war is never the answer to solving any problems. The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies." (Actress and activist for recording artists' rights, protesting war in Iraq at the American Music Awards) How dare Bush not kiss and make up with Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein! Terry McAuliffe - "I'm disappointed that his plan once again doesn't address the daily economic problems faced by the African American community on a day-to-day basis." (DNC Chairman McAuliffe criticizing Bush's economic stimulus plan) And Trent Lott is an evil man...yada yada yada... Al Sharpton - "I'm qualified." (Rev. Sharpton announcing a bid for the Democratic presidential nomination) Qualified for what? Hollering racism throughout the State of the Union? Sen. Patty Murray - "He's (Osama bin Laden) been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day-care facilities, building health-care facilities, and these people are extremely grateful. We haven't done that." (Sen. Murray, D-WA, in a speech to a high school honors class) He's also been building one more little item that the esteemed senator must have overlooked...TERRORIST CAMPS! Robert Redford - "Prolonging our dependence on fossil fuels would guarantee homeland insecurity. If you are worried about getting oil from an unstable Persian Gulf, consider the alternatives: Indonesia, Nigeria, Uzbekistan." (Actor Robert Redford in an LA Times op-ed) Enlighten me here...was there an Eskimo revolt in Alaska or something? Is Alaska too unstable to drill for oil in? Sen. Diane Feinstein - "I was embarrassed to wear it." (Sen. Feinstein, D-CA, talking about her American flag pin, quoted in the San Jose Mercury News) I'm guessing she wasn't one of the people who ran on the 'I'm a patriot' platform. Joe Elliott - "The government needs our money to effectively govern the country. Tax cuts are nothing more than the oldest trick in the book to get in office." (Cardinal Columnist Joe Elliott in the Louisville Cardinal, 11/15/02) Take an economics class. You might learn something. Terry McAuliffe - "The Bush era of responsibility starts today." (DNC Chairman McAuliffe, 11/06/02) No, the Bush era of responsibility started two years ago. Rep. Charles Rangel - "They stole an election from us in Florida. We owe it to those people who lost their vote in Florida to make up for it in Louisville." (Rangel, D-NY, 10/27/02, speaking on behalf of Jack Conway) Yawn...Anyone else getting tired of the same old whining? Show us some evidence Charlie. Martin Scott - "I don't think we ever have had a question where someone tried to steal an endorsement -- that might be a harsh word, but if you take something that belongs to someone else, I think the word we use in law enforcement is steal." (KY State FOP Chairman, 10/22/02, claiming Rep. Anne Northup has attempted to steal the FOP's endorsement of Jack Conway) And when you refuse to count certain votes, I think the word we use is cheat. Sen. Jean Carnahan - "I'm the number 1 target of the White House. They can't get Osama bin Laden; they're going to get me." (CNN's Crossfire, 10/15/02) Nice comparison there, Senator. Next she'll be demanding murals in her likeness to be painted on St. Louis buildings. Sen. Robert Byrd, D-KKK - "Saddam Hussein is a threat, but the threat is not so great that we must be stampeded to provide such authority to this president just weeks before an election." (New York Times op-ed, 10/10/02) Well of course the Klan Man is going to defend Saddam...but then, we're talking about a guy that wears a white sheet instead of a suit to the Senate floor too. Ryan Parker - "But a daddy's boy from a backwater state who can't speak his own language is not the image America needs to portray as the world's sole power." (Ryan Parker, Louisville Cardinal op-ed, 9/24/02) If Texas is backwater, just what would you consider Arkansas? Rep. Dick Gephardt - "This is a Republican leadership, at least in the House, that has a congenital defect. They cannot let anything come out of here that isn't down to the last word what they exactly want. I have never seen anything like this. They are absolutists, they are ideological, they are my way or the highway, every day on every issue. It's mindless." (Rep. Gephardt at a press conference, 9/12/02) Yeah it's a good thing you Democrats aren't like that...oh wait! We still have no judges because you rejected them on the abortion ISSUE. But of course, Leahy's way or the highway is a whole different thing then a Republican's way or the highway. Senator Fritz Hollings - "Just keep the cockpit door closed. You can put up a sign in Arab - this is, say, type-casting, but say 'Try to hijack, go to jail.' " (Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC), Washington Times, 5/23 ) What a great idea! This will definitely stop the next terrorist thinking about hijacking an airplane. Al Gore - “…The environmental and energy policies of our government are completely dominated by a group of current and former oil and chemical company executives who are trying to dismantle America’s ability to force them to reduce the extremely dangerous levels of pollution in the earth’s atmosphere.” (Al Gore Op-Ed, “The Selling Of An Energy Policy,” The New York Times, April 21, 2002) Yeah...who'd want people making an energy policy that had actually WORKED in the energy field? Senator John Kerry - “We must uphold the promise of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton and never allow the President and his Republican friends to threaten Social Security by putting it on the Wall Street trading block.” (Sen. Kerry, Speech To Massachusetts Democrat State Convention,” May 31, 2002) Meanwhile "the president and his Republican friends" will uphold the promise of the Constitution...which is more important than Clinton, Kennedy, and Kerry. Paul Begala - “The difference between Martin Sheen and George W. Bush is Martin Sheen is actually convincing when he acts like he’s president.” (CNN’s “Crossfire,” June 4, 2002) Especially when he sticks his tongue down Janet Reno's throat. That's not presidential; that's sick! SENATOR TOM DASCHLE - "...Democrats are America’s brakes with this administration. We’re the checks in the checks and balances in our system." (CNN’s "Inside Politics," May 29, 2002) And they've certainly slammed on the brakes. Notice how we have no judges... REP. DICK GEPHARDT - "In essence, the Republican approach is to pass a press release and perpetuate the status quo." (Rep. Gephardt, Press Release, May 24, 2002) Little Dick makes a great point in his latest PRESS RELEASE! SENATOR JOHN KERRY - "I hope every one of you will tell your parents that John Kerry is a wonderful politician." (Betsy Rothstein, "When Kids Come To Visit, Lawmakers Better Watch Out," The Hill, May 22, 2002) Oh, so we're bribing the little kids now? JAMES CARVILLE - "This president just doesn’t travel very well. He’s not very good on his feet. He doesn’t like to do it...They either got to get their act together or just stay out of world affairs. And maybe we ought to become an isolationist nation..." (CNN’s "Crossfire," May 30, 2002) Or maybe we should isolate you. SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON - "No one thought New Jersey produced anything but concrete." (Todd Fielding, "Clinton Vows To Do More To Aid Farmers," The Buffalo News, May 19, 2002) Uh, yeah. Maybe your Yankees cap was just pulled too low for you to notice. PAUL BEGALA - "Or if you’re like Katherine Harris, and you want to go steal an election in front of God and everyone, yes, I’m going to call you on it." (CNN’s "Crossfire," May 29, 2002) Anybody else getting tired of the whining? JAMES CARVILLE - "Just it’s kind of embarrassing when [Bush] goes [to Europe]. But - this is something that cracks me up." (CNN’s "Crossfire," May 30, 2002) What cracks me up is that you're still getting paid to spew that crap. PAUL BEGALA - "You go out to the Midwest where people work for a living, and Bush is hammering them." (CNN's "Crossfire," May 6, 2002) Oh? The Midwest is the only area of the nation where people actually work? BARBARA BOXER - "It's a new day. Communism is dead. It's even dead in Cuba. I hate to say it, it's dead...Castro may think he has Communism, but he's got a whole dollar economy going and I went to the restaurants and there's all kinds of capitalism over there." Senator Barbara Boxer (D,CA) quoted on NewsMax.com Which of course, explains why Cubans keep washing up on our shores on homemade rafts. They're trying to escape capitalism! Of course! REP. DICK GEPHARDT - "To date, the Republican leadership has refused to follow our lead in restoring people's trust in free markets." (Rep. Gephardt, Press Release, June 21, 2002) Funny how the Democrats' ideas about free markets always include government control. And that's not exactly free. DNC Chairman Terry McAullife - "Bush's priorities are out of whack. He should be in Washington calling on Republicans to support real corporate reform legislation, not out on the road breaking more fundraising records." (DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe, Democratic Party Press Release, July 15, 2002) Breaking fundraising records, huh? Well, I guess it's better than breaking fundraising LAWS! Ahem, Buddhist Temple...Lincoln Bedroom sleepovers...coffees... Senator Hillary Clinton - I live in the real world. I got on the subway in the Bronx a few weeks ago and a woman came up to me who works seven days a week.” (“Hillary Clinton Plans To Concentrate On Local Issues,” Business Week As Cited In The Bulletin Frontrunner, May 31, 2002) Call me slow here, but I still feel like I'm missing something...like the point. And I have trouble seeing Hillary in the Bronx, much less riding the subway in the Bronx. BUSH/CHENEY IN 2004.. |

Furthremore, it's filled with lies and half-truths, which I've come to expect in topics like this. Take for example Carville's quote above:
quote:JAMES CARVILLE - "This president just doesn’t travel very well. He’s not very good on his feet. He doesn’t like to do it...They either got to get their act together or just stay out of world affairs. And maybe we ought to become an isolationist nation..." (CNN’s "Crossfire," May 30, 2002)
Here's the full quote:
quote: CARVILLE: Well, first of all, I mean, I'm of French descent. And you know, Bob, I like Europe. I don't hate the Europeans. I like the Europeans. I like the French. I like the British. I like the Italians. I like all of them. NOVAK: Why don't you go there? CARVILLE: The truth of the matter is -- well, actually I am going in June and quite looking forward to it. NOVAK: And stay. CARVILLE: This president just doesn't travel very well. He's not very good on his feet. He doesn't like to do it. This administration's foreign policy now, they -- I went through the vice president's trip, the Secretary of State's trip, and now this trip. They either got to get their act together or just stay out of world affairs. And maybe we ought to become an isolationist nation, which I'm sure would make you happy.

And once again I marvel and the stupidity involved with launching an "assault" against the liberals for misspeaking. Despite what the vaunted Sbenois claims in another thread, it is just too easy to play tit for tat. Though the game is on and my Patriots are headed to the bowl. Strawberry gets a raspberry for his stupid Rush of quotes. Liberals are stupid, but generally well-meaning. Republicans have embraced crackpot economics that suck up to aristocrats and the corporate kleptocracy: they are craven and their idols are evil-doers. Just read Paul Krugman's new book and you will get a sense of how devious and anti-American the Bush crowd are. |

The thing about Dingle is there are only a sprinkling of misguided individuals with no insite, if any, who take his posts seriously. The only reason he gets such a reaction to his posts is because everybody likes to respond to his irrationality, and that empowers him in a pathetic way. What I like is seeing him cut down by intelligent people after every one of his posts. This is America, he has every right to make a buffoon of himself if he likes! |

"I don't want nations feeling like that they can bully ourselves and our allies...at the same time I want to reduce our own nuclear capacities to the level commiserate with keeping the peace." George Bush (Des Moines, Iowa, 10/23/2000) AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT ACTUALLY SAID THIS. And he pronounced 'nuclear' as 'new-cue-ler.' What an embarrassment this guy is. |

Bush, the former INS, i.e., Department of Homeland Security, Congress, both parties, both houses of Congress, Federal courts, local governments, MALDEF, ACLU, do-gooder lawyers, CA Supreme Court, gov. Gray Davis. Plenty of blame to go around. No blame pre-Bush. This all started the day after the Supreme Court decided the constitutionality of the Fla. re-count by some guy named Chad. Suddenly, 10 million crossed the border from Tijuana in a human wave like nothing seen before, storming the border guards, running en masse north on I-5, stopping at nothing, until the CA DMV, where they picked up their motor voter forms with their drivers licenses, medicaid cards, impregated their lady friends, (the DMV is still living down that mass love in), getting their kids a free education, health care, and affirmative action preference over native born kids. It is all Bush's fault. DWM |

"native born kids?" Well, maybe kids of parents here legally. I was distracted by the memory of the DMV love-in, broadcast on KMEX TV, a subsidiary of PRI. DWMex |
