Hi, I'm looking for an indoor pool in the Maplewood area so I can exercise. The YMCA is sending me a brochure with the classes they conduct at Columbia High School. Anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks

JCC of West Orange on Northfield Avenue, 736-3200. (No particular affiliation needed to join, pool facilities quite good)

I've used the JCC and it's nice for a number of reasons: 2 pools, airy view, nice dressing rooms, suit spinner-dryer, wasn't ever crowded when I went.
I belong to the Y in Livingston, however, and have since the 70's. I find I don't mind when the pool is crowded becuase it helps me maintain an aggressive attitude, good in old age. Seniors pay $22.85/month for full use of the facility. And most classes are free to seniors. I don't know what individual or family rates are.
There's a Y in Summit, also.

The JCC is a great deal imho, $550 for a family for the year, including two pools, gym, free classes (exercise, yoga, etc.) They even have cheap babysitting while you work out. We love it.

Call the adult school. They also offer some swimming lessons and have a Saturday open swim at Columbia High School.

Try The Connection in Summit. They have a great swim program plus a ton of other activities
