As we now all know Dr. Dean is a very sick man. His breakdown before leaving Iowa was in a word, "insane."

Most level headed Democrats have fully backed away from this sicko by now, I'm sure. This isn't the problem though. The problem lies in all the money he's brought in so far that would be better spent by a candidate who has a grasp on reality.

It looks as if Dean has set back the Democratic party once again and 2004 won't be the year of the jack ass. Think about it one second. Kerry wins in Iowa because the people there saw through the pint sized Dean and his lack of experience and lack of knowledge.

Kerry on the other hand has run a god awful campaign which has included constant back pedaling but still wins. Edwards, a personal injury attorney comes in second. How in the world did all this happen to a once proud party??

CONCLUSION:

BUSH/CHENEY IN 2004..

While I should know better than respond to the troll post....does anyone know what happens to a candidate's money if/when he drops out of the race.

In straw's example, can Dean turnover his money to Kerry or Edwards or Clark, who are more likely now to get the nomination & to defeat Shrub?

It's a good question, the money trail, but I'm afraid Dean won't be dropping out with cash left to spend. He's in it until the end because he has nothing else. If he were to drop early it would destroy his political career. Sticking around could at least give him a chance at a V.P. nomination.

Dean is rapidly becoming a character out of a bad 1930s political movie, or maybe "Network News", with his anger and rhetoric. He will be out of the race and forgotten after the South Carolina primary.

If Kerry doesn't blow it by going back into his shell he will be the nominee and he will have the choice of Edwards (just about everybody's second choice) or Clark for the VP slot. With either of those two Southern boys (although I think Clark is Southern by courtesy only) he has a chance of picking up the Georgia and/or Florida electoral votes and making it into the White House. Edwards has the plus of playing pretty well in the midwest as well.

If I was whoever controls Bush (Cheney, Daddy, The Saudis, The Elders of Zion, or the Martians?) I would be getting worried, very worried.

Watch for a concerted smear campaign, appearing simultaneously on the WSJ editorial page, FOX news, and posts by Straw and Don, shortly. Similar to what happened to Clark when he declared.

A tribute to the thoughtful, well tempered UKEALALIO.

Here are some of his/her top posts from the last week:

Hey and don't pick on Nancy Reagan either. When she was an actress, she didn't have too much talent in the thespian department but rumor has it , she was the oral sex queen of Hollywood.

Hey Ronnie Raygun, poster boy for "Family Values", knows how to pick em (just don't check with his previous wives).

Stop picking on poor old Laura Bush, she stands by her man and bakes cookies. So she killed someone by running a stop sign in a 55 MPH zone, thats nothing compared to Hillary speaking her mind and being ambitious and smart (HOW DARE SHE!!!!).

Give me cigars and adultery any day over, DWI's, vehicular manslaughter and lying about WMD (less people die).

Dumbya had to attend this event no matter how much you disagree or dislike the weasel. It's kind of an empty argument as to his sincerity.

I'm so happy, we can solve so many problems by telling our youngsters to practice abstinence. I'm sure this is exactly what he did in his younger years when he was drinkin and druggin up a storm--Oh yea that was before he found god.ROFLMAO

I disagree Straw. If your wishes come true in 04, we can count on a total of 8 years of a jack ass

Thanks Uke for providing such keen insight--keep it up.

Anyone ever see Deterrence with Timothy Hutton and Kevin Pollack as the President (short guy) ... Red Sox, your post made me think of this movie immediately. It's at Town Video and is very short and sort of absurd but I liked it ....

I heard Howard Stern did a spoof on his speech, and played AC/DC in the background. What a debacle. The whole thing was embarrassing, reminded me of those foaming at the mouth southern preachers who have conniption fits and speak in tongues.
Anyway, Algebra, I thought Deterrence was very good.

By the way, has anyone bothered to ask what this all means for Al Gore? Who would want the endorsement from a man who couldn't carry his home state in a presidential election anyway?

What about James McGreevey? The recent polls show him in bad shape, but just wait. It's gonna be a sleigh ride to poll hell from there.

When all else fails, a candidate will try late night television:

quote:

Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean turned to late-night comedy Thursday to poke fun at his arm-waving outburst in Iowa that has proven politically damaging. Dean taped an appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman" in which he presented the Top 10 list. The subject of Dean's list was "Ways, I, Howard Dean, can turn things around."
___

10. Switch to decaf.

9. Unveil new slogan, "Vote for Dean and get one dollar off your next purchase at Blimpie."

8. Marry Rachel on the final episode of "Friends."

7. Don't change a thing, it's going great.

6. Show a little more skin.

5. Go on "American Idol" and give them a taste of those pipes.

4. Start working out and speaking with an Austrian accent.

3. I can't give specifics yet, but it involves Ted Danson.

2. Fire the staffer who suggested I do this lousy Top 10 List instead of actually campaigning.

1. Oh, I don't know — maybe fewer, crazy, red-faced rants.

I guess Dean's speech writers came from The Letterman Show or Saturday Night Live. :-)Unfortunately, I am afraid the rant in Iowa has toasted his campaign and no attempt to soften his image will restore him to his front runner position.

With that said, the polls from New Hampshire show him holding on to the second position, which to me seems remarkable and if this holds up in the vote next week may cause me to back track on my prediction that he will be out of it after South Carolina.

As far as New Hampshire is concerned I am going to be looking at the turnout. Republicans outnumber Democrats, but unaffiliated voters out number both. The unaffiliated can vote in the party primary of their choice. I think a large turnout will indicate that the Dems are getting through to the swing voters. I hope the exit polls track party affiliation, or lack there of.

I didn't watch the debates, but the reports indicate everyone focused on Bush, not each other, which is good.

I liked Sharptons jab in the debate when he basically said.

Dont be too hard on yourself Mr. Dean. If I had spent that kind of money on a campaign and only got 18% I would be howling too..

"I was having a great time," he told ABC's Diane Sawyer on Primetime Thursday. "I am not a perfect person, believe me, I have all kinds of warts. I wear cheap suits sometimes, I say things that I probably ought not to say, but I lead with my heart, and that's what I was doing right there, leading with my heart."

I had to close my office door at lunch just to listen.

Apparently, a "mother load" of these can be found at http://deangoesnuts.com/.

All kidding aside, it is kind of silly that the Bush attack dogs are going after Dean for some pep rally-type performance. People should be more concerned about the incumbent and his State of the Union message - a carefully-written, well-rehearsed compendium of half-truths, demonization of some of our own citizens, and deliberate attempts to rewrite history.

If Dean were the incumbent President and Bush gave a "pep rally" type of speech at a campaign event after getting trounced, you'd be one of the first people lambasting him.

All kidding aside of course.

Actually, S., I think I usually focus more on substance.

That having been said, why haven't either of the S-men (Sben or Straw) brought this shocking scene to our attention:

Yeeaw!

As for me, no matter who the nominee is, I'd love to see the Democratic convention end with every delegate reciting that Dean speech, ending with "And we're going to retake the White House, Yee-hah!"

Good to know what Republicans think is "unacceptable" behavior.

Misleading country into war: a-OK!
Weakening environmental protection: thumbs up!
Sweetheart deals to cronies: righteeo!
Pissing off allies around the globe: you go, W!

Shouting at a campaign rally: very, very, bad.
