Here's an even worse waste of tax money: The Justice Department, it turns out, has been giving schools six-figure grants to combat "bullying." How can we possibly criticize this after last week's Santee, Calif., school shooting, in which purported bullying victim Andy Williams allegedly killed two fellow students? Well, Santana High School, where the shooting took place, got more than $137,000 from the Justice Department in 1998 and 1999, of which it has already spent $90,000. "The school has gathered data on bullying incidents based on interviews with kids and will issue a report sometime later this year," the Associated Press reports. Your tax dollars at work. How much did our School system get? Any? |

I trust that we have someone who actively seeks Federal funds for our schools. How much do they obtain in a typical year? Obviously, there are monies of this sort being given to the schools. How much Federal money comes to our school district each year? Anybody know? Who would? |
