We need to also see how many cookies from each pile benefit Republican campaign donors. |

Reminds me of a political cartoon I saw during Reagan's presidency. A couple were tearing down their house in order to put a fence around their property. I wish I could remember the caption. Our budget sure makes sure we have a strong fence, but what are we protecting and building inside? Tom Reingold the prissy-pants There is nothing

Or the "Supply Side Diet", which is EAT EAT EAT MORE MORE MORE because when you weigh more it takes more energy to move around, so you lose weight. (from Garrison Keillor) |

it still stuns that supply-siders will tell you that it's "proven" that tax cuts lead to higher govt revenue. first off, no reputable economist (or any other scientist, for that matter) would look at data and say a theory is "proven." second, an honest look at the data shows the opposite, that the theory is not supported. but still the myth persists. which would be easy to understand if the theory at least had face validity. but it doesn't, it's actually so counterintuitive that it demands good solid evidentiary support to convince a properly skeptical mind. unbelievable. |

I'd be interested to see how many more cookies K-12 Education has over the Pentagon when you add in local and state spending. (Hint - Pentagon will still have 35) For that matter, how many more cookies will Alternative Energy have when you add in private investment. |
