Does anyone know why the house on the southeastern corner of Highland and Midland has been empty for so long? Well over a year, maybe 2 years!

Now how can tell which corner is southeastern? We can't even tell which is east and west vs. north and south based on the maps we got from the realtors! :-)

I had heard about 2 years ago that is in forclosure. Speaking as someone who used to live across the street from a foreclosed house, the banks do not really give a rat's behind about upkeep, etc.

We used to complain about the condition of the house across from us to the town- to little avail. One of the neighbors had his son mow the lawn weekly & even paid to have the front of the house painted, just so it wouldn't drag the neighborhood down with it.

I don't think banks care or are really intimidated by the fines imposed for quality of life violations. Maybe there should be some kind of local ordinance about these things.....

Greenetree: Thanks.

Njjoseph: South Orange Ave and Parker Ave. run east/west as does Midland blvd. Prospect and Valley run north/south. I relate everthing to these streets and that's how I figure it out.

Pepper, I know my directions around town. I was joking (did you see my emoticon?) :-)

But apparently (and if you read the other threads on this board), there was a bit of confusion because on the map many of us received from our realtors, west was at the top of the map and east at the bottom. One would expect north at the top; therefore many of us had a different orientation.

I was only trying to tie in the other thread! ;-)

I drove past when Weichert was having an open house there two Sundays ago and it didn't look like there were too many takers. Probably because the asking price is $339K and it's not all that interesting of a house.

Pepper,
I live on Highland Ave., and we moved here 4 years ago in April. Shortly after our move, that couple left. The story I was told is the couple split but were not married - so the house has been in the courts. I guess the couple can't figure out how to split the proceeds amicably. Meanwhile it sits in disrepair and it probobly needs at least 75K in repairs.
