I remember reading about a 5K run in South Orange at the end of March.. but cannot find any specifics now. Has anyone heard about this? Are there other runs in the area? Many thanks, |

The race is at the end of March, Saturday March 31st. There are 10 K races in Maplewood (May 5 tentatively and the Cherry Blossom 10K in Newark on April 22. The best places to find out about these races is the Essex Running Club, Sneaker Factory and the two primary timers web sites. The SO 5K is a nice race, you start behind Blockbuster, go to Vose, out to SO Ave, Up to Prospect, Turnaround, pass under the train, Make a right into the park just before the "river", you cruise through the neighborhood between Montrose, the Traintracks, and almost Ridgewood. You end up going over the train down Vose and back to the parking lot. Not too difficult, but lots of fun. There was an ad for the 5K in last weeks NR. http://community.nj.com/cc/sorotary?display=fundraising South Orange Rotary Village Classic 5K Run Saturday, March 31, 2001 9 a.m. SHARP BEHIND BLOCKBUSTER Starting line: Taylor Place Parking Lot between Vose Avenue and Scotland Road.
