I am so freaking bored by MOL these days that I was just wondering if any of you have an opinion on this important topic. Thankey. ---> Brought to you by Sbenois Engineering LLC <- Hey, it also wouldn’t look good coming out of a motel with your wife’s best friend saying you were just planning a surprise birthday party for her husband...- Arturo November '03

Since Sbenois has opened this can of worms, I must chime in with a very disquieting recent experience I had at Cafe Sbenois. I was enjoying my customary Cafe repast (Yumster Jr. with Bearnaise Sauce, Spinach Flan, and a La-La Low-Foam Latte), when Marge, my lovely usual waitress informed me that she was going off shift, and would I mind very much if she gave me my check before the next shift came on. "No problem", I said, and continued slurping my Latte. Later, as I stood up to take my check to the cashier, Marge's relief waitress, the beautiful Sophia, sauntered slinkily in my direction. "Is that tip for me, big boy?", she asked. "Well, not actually, but... yeah, I guess", I fumbled, locking eyes with her. She swept the dollar-twenty-five into her apron pocket, and brushed by me VERY closely, exhaling a sultry "Thanks" into my ear. I nearly keeled over. The woman reeked. I mean, not just her breath, but her whole body: Cigarettes! This may not be entirely on-thread, but I've gotta say it: Sbenois, you must ask this vixen to change her habits. I've been a loyal customer for years now, and have never experienced such a stomach-turning aroma in your establishment before (except maybe for the sauteed baby octupus appetizers you featured last summer). Either Sophia's unwanted perfume must go, or you'll lose my patronage. Sbeois, please don't be shy about bringing this problem to her attention just because she's such a looker:

Wow, people quote Johnny Thunders?. I used to run into this guy all the time while playing at Max's Kansas City. He used to hang out in the dressing rooms stealing beer from the bands playing. He was always nodding out and semi-coherent. I know we tend to glamorize talented junkies, like Billy Holiday, Charlie Parker and Keith Richards but Johnny Thunders ?. The only thing I found slightly ammusing about Thunders was, during the last years of his life at gigs he used to tell the crowd, "I think I'm gonna do it tonight", and people would scream, "Yea Johnny, Die, Die". To each his own. |

Dearest Soda, I am so sorry that you had a bad experience. As you well know, the Cafe Sbenois likes to take care of its better customers so please do come back any time and order up some of the new fresh Yumsters with Cheese that have been recently, um, acquired. Obviosuly, it's on me. In fact, bring some friends and I'll take care of the whole thing. As you mentioned, Sophia was a relief waitress on the evening you dined with us. We were really in a pinch and since Harpo once again refused to work for me, I had to call my friends at St. James Gate for some immediate help. Sopia came running over in about 20 minutes but naturally she didn't have time to shower. Obviously, she brought their "atmosphere" with her. Sincerely, S. ---> Brought to you by Sbenois Engineering LLC <- The Cafe Sbenois is pleased to announce that a fresh batch of Yumsters just arrived thanks to the pinpoint accuracy of the Sbenois Deer Howitzer. Just sayin, many "families" in Maplewood do quite well without a female... (AJC- This isn't a slam, but I've honestly forgotten if you are a guy or a girl... ) Big Gay Lie: Gay guys have a "faghag" who keeps them glamorous and trendy. Reality: Gay guys generally think women are EVIL and avoid them at all costs. Your "faghag" was someone you hung out with in High School, but you grew up and realized she was the enemy too. Sure, you can be social... but deep down inside... you saw what evil things "she" did to your own dad. Don't believe me? Ask my boyfriend. He thinks the same thing. So... can't live with can't live without them? Many Maplewood families (and apparently many more each day) live without women just fine. But ya know, you can live without Maplewood too... bizzare world of social wars. Women are evil. ---John |
