http://www.nj.com/njcommunities/ledger/essex/index.ssf?/njcommunities/ledger/essex/12b3022.html Maplewood, Elizabeth and South Amboy are among eight communities selected to share $4.2 million in state neighborhood revitalization aid.... |

Thank you to the TC and whoever else was involved in making this happen! Job well done! Can't wait to see the specifics for how Maplewood will disburse the funds. And when might the state make such funds available? Bacata |

Suggestion to the TC: For the portion of the money that will go to home fix-ups in "East Hilton" (now even Hilton is getting divided!), think about making the money available on a no or very low-interest LOAN basis (instead of outright grants) so that the funds are self-sustaining and can be used by many homeowners instead of just a lucky few. (Of course I have no idea of the terms of the grant from the state that might impact on the terms offered to residents.) (To any who might be tempted to complain about "East Hilton" getting this special attention: remember, as our homes are improved, our property values rise and our income tax will rise in better proportion to the rest of town. Other parts of town will eventually see a benefit from this program as well in a filter-down effect.) Vic, Jerry, others: can you enlighten us on the particulars? Thanks! Bacata |

Low-interest loan concept has a lot of merit. Second the motion. |

For those of us who are new residents, what streets boarders the "East Hilton" district? |
