Yes, Alidah, you're right. I'm sure you have as many stories as I do about people not opening doors and getting assessments they felt were out-of-line. Unfortunately for the homeowner, if they refuse entry to the agent, the agent can use high-end figures (i.e. class/quality, less depreciation, upgraded kitchens and baths) when determining the new value. It happened many times in Maplewood, and unfortunately, the people who have prevented entry will probably appeal, which in turn increases costs and taxes for all. |
