Today is Bob Grant's last show on the radio. I've got to say that although he was abrasive and I only agreed with about 28% of what he said, he was the most engaging talk show host I ever heard. And I listened to him on and off for 35 years. While Hannity and Limbaugh talked a good game, neither of them approached Grant's ability to provide the historical context that was often required on issues. Many thought he was a racist, especially after his stupid comment about Ron Brown's death and other comments about David Dinkins. But people who listened to his show for longer than hour came to realize that he was an equal opportunity basher who very often went after Republicans with great zeal. Of course, most of his shots were directed at liberals. But the man knew his history and facts to a far greater degree than anyone else who took to the microphone. And he said what was on his mind. For middle of the roaders like me, Grant was an excellent barometer for what the right was really thinking. Good luck Bob. And remember, you were wrong 72% of the time. |

S - Looks like Bob will be on with Hannity - which is kinda disappointing - he's great on his own: http://www.hannity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49690 Will he be shouting "GET OFF OF SEAN'S PHONE!"? Instead of the classic "GET OFF OF MY PHONE"! And I think the wrong 72% of the time is about right. He really was one of the pioneers of the Talk Radio format. |

I seriously doubt that it's more than a one-time thing. For the last 10 years, Bob Grant took endless shots at WABC management for the way that he was canned immediately following the Ron Brown comment. I can't imagine that he's going to get a slot there but we'll see. I saw Bob Grant play softball with the WMCA All-Stars (including the idiot John Sterling) 32 or 33 years ago in the Bronx. There was a time when he had such a huge following that there was a real belief he could win the NYC Mayoral election. Many of the city's Demcoratic leaders actively courted his approval, including Mario Cuomo.

There's a station in the New York area that plays music worth listening to? |
