A dear friend is down there for a week doing pro bono legal work to resolve landlord-tenant disputes. There are a lot of ongoing problems, and they have only barely begun the clean up in some quarters--here is an exerpt from a letter he sent, along with a photo he took:

such a beautiful city--went to some jazz clubs until the wee hours largely to get some relief for people doing this work all week and also to numb ourselves from the effects of going thru the impacted areas there...see attached pic from the lower 9th ward...the devastation is way beyond anything i was able to absorb from pictures or video--as the expression goes, you really need to see it to believe it... the eye of the strom
was 80 miles wide and 2 million people are still displaced...
