I received a call tonight asking me to:

-- name and rate the performance of each member of the town council
-- state whether or not I think voting for mayor is important
--select three key issues facing Maplewood (a list was provided)
--state the likelihood of voting for incumbents in the next local election
-- state the liklihood of voting for new candidates (a list was provided)

Did anyone who participated in the poll hear the introduction? Was there a statement of why or who had commissioned the poll? I thought I caught ".......emocratic party." (Little Berry let loose an earsplitting shreik just as the polster started. By the time I moved to the next room, question numero uno was under way.)

I got a call tonight too...I was asked to name all the TC members and the mayor. I passed. I was asked to rate them, the two top choices being "excellent" or "pretty good"...I asked if there was anything in between that I could choose, they said no. I gave everyone the same grade...they are a committee after all. I was asked who I would vote for in the June primary out of a list of six or seven names (that fake name guy was on the list again -- maybe he's for real)...I was pretty specific about who I wouldnt vote for. The pollster pronounced most of the names correctly..I helped with a couple of them.

How much do these polls cost? Id love for someone to announce next time, "I was going to pay to have a poll done, but instead, I will donate the money to the schools or youth recreation". Any chance of that ever happening?

I got the call but didn't have time to talk. So I guess the poll results will be skewed to the right.
