Wow, guess you have completely lost it Art.

Since 9/11, there has been one test of the govt's reaction to a disaster. They blew it.
If the word "incompetence" offends, come up with something else. But after what we already know about Katrina and what we are likely to find out, to suggest that "when you live in a flood zone expect floods" really seems loopy. Do you think that is why there was a slow response- that Bush figured it was a clever way to get people to move?

Issue two- intelligence leading to Iraq. I know there was bad intelligence, and I know the White House relied on it. But the level of certainty on going to war has to be higher. Read some of the inside accounts-- there was good intelligence as well. It was just discounted. Ignored. Incompetence.

And, Art, while you are smoking the funny stuff maybe you can explain the conservative values converyed in the prescription drug plan. I figure you might figure it out since the White House was smoking something when they came up with it. Incompetence.

My one and only issue here was the president's incompetence. A few posts ago, you said that no one hasd proven his incompetence-- I just gave you three examples. Cases where he laid out a plan and it when wrong. If you don't care about "the crybabies", maybe you might want to look at the economic consequences of any one of these snafus. Now to you--- where has he shown leadership, execute a plan he laid out and succeeded?

Last thing: I want to give the big guy his due. I saw him on TV today with the White Sox. Bush would make a magnificent Baseball Commisioner. That is position that is crying out for leadership, and I'd guess he'd enjoy the work. Who do I have to call to set up the interview for him?

Art, are you saying most or all Muslims are out to destroy us? You make that generalization from knowing how many Muslims?

You said: When the hell will people begin to take responsibility for their lives? When you live in a flood zone expect floods. Whatever the problem, wherever you live, whatever news media you read or listen to, people must pay attention, take responsibility, and look out for themselves and their families.

Maybe, but then that would place the blame of 9/11 on the victims, since they lived or worked in a high risk zone. Are you comfortable with that attribution?

Dear Kendalbill,

Just as I figured, you’re not paying attention to what I’m saying. I’ll repeat it again for you… “… given we can’t seem to find any common ground, and you disagree with every point I make, I will respectfully bow out of this conversation with you.” Find another playmate who you agree with…

Dear Tom,

Yes, from what I hear and see in the news, Muslims all around the globe are out to destroy us. If the ones you know are telling you something different, please share it with the rest of us…

What I said about people taking responsibility for their lives still stands. The victims of 9/11 were victims. I morn their loss and pray for their souls. I will also do all I can and fight to see that it doesn’t happen again. However, in my book the talking is over.

I want to see all the bastards responsible for 911 dead before I leave this world. Anyone or any nation who threatens America and the free world with more death and destruction must be wiped off the face of the earth. I’m sorry pal, no more diplomacy and no more waiting for them to attack us again. When we’re told what they plan to do, we better believe that’s what they will do.

Listen, I’m thankful for what our President has done so far, but he better take action in Iran pretty soon if he wants my continued support. This is no time to be backing away from their continuing threats against us and the rest of the free world.

ps: Tom, do us a favor and play with Kendalbill for a while. The man has some issues that only you can understand...

Art-- thanks for taking the "high road" out here. And I'll forward your ultimatum to Bush who will surely invade Iran immediately to keep the flow of support coming.

Now is there anyone that can illustrate competent behavior of any sort by this president, please let me know. Even on a policy I disagree with, I would love to hear about a policy he successfully implemented or even a situation he was able to address competently.

Art said: Yes, from what I hear and see in the news, Muslims all around the globe are out to destroy us. If the ones you know are telling you something different, please share it with the rest of us

Art, I recommend not relying too much on broadcast media to tell you what foreigners are like. Bear in mind that fear sells best these days. Visit a mosque. You'll hear messages of peace and understanding.

1.75 billion people, and you figure they're all similarly hateful? Don't you think that's terribly simpleminded and unlike human nature?

My view is that the leaders of the Muslim world are terribly cynical, self-serving, ill-intended people. They have succeeded in convincing their followers that their problems come from the west, not within. They deserve the harshest criticism for that.

Fear is not conducive to understanding. Remember that.

And yes, those who plotted to destroy us deserve destruction. But those who didn't don't.

I'm sure the Muslim mass media depict us as bloodthirsty, too. Do you want Muslims to believe that picture of us? Surely not, so why should we buy the fear our mass media are selling? Remember how the media generally don't print good news.

But sometimes, they do. Listen to the Muslim academics on public broadcasting, for example, or read their articles on the web. They are fair, and the criticize their own culture as readily as anything else. And they believe in peace and prosperity, as we do.

Yes, Art said it, and Art meant it! No Muslim nation or leaders have taken a hard stand against the war on terror.

I’m not talking about a few individuals now and again on the news. I mean a real stand, not unlike Bush’s stand against terror. So, I’ll say it again, what don’t you understand about the fact that Muslims all around the globe, tens of thousands of them, are out demonstrating on the streets to destroy us?

I’ve been to the Middle East and all around the world, and it’s true there are nice people everywhere. Unfortunately, there are not enough of them to make a difference in the court of world opinion. We see them all the time demonstrating, but it's never for us, it's always against us. There are plenty of marches against the war, but never for the war. There's something wrong with this picture...

All nations, especially Muslim nations in control must change their ways and show by word and deed that they want and will fight for a peaceful world. They must immediately put their nuke programs under international control and close supervision. IMHO, time has all but run out. The 1.75 billion Muslims in the world are apparently under the control of a few black sheep, and that’s sad, very sad.

I do think this is all terribly simpleminded, but I also think these are lives not worth living. Live free or die! The future of the free world is fast becoming a case of survival of the fittest. They kill us or we kill them. The ones with the biggest stick win.

I’ve taken a stand for freedom by any and all means possible. As I said before, anyone or any nation who threatens America and the free world with more death and destruction must be destroyed and put out of business. There’s no middle ground around a death threat.

I’m sorry pal, no more diplomacy and no more waiting for them to attack us again. They have told us what they plan to do. We can sit around talking all we want, but they have also shown us what they will do given the chance, and if we don’t stop them dead in their tracks now, they’ll do it again...

So let me get this straight. You'd pick a random nice guy who is oppressed by corrupt leaders, through no fault of his own, and you'd kill him, because his life is not worth living? And you'd destroy his entire society, too?

So if I were to extrapolate this, if you are not living someone else's ideals, he should kill you or destroy your society.

Or are we the only people who decide who should live or die, because we hold the exclusive truth on what and who is good and bad in God's eyes?

I'm not sure, but it doesn't resonate with my understanding of what Christianity is about.

AJC, I thought you took your ball and went home.

Your ideas are-- ahem-- interesting. Do you think the President shares your point of view?? Are your opinions shared by Guy or Southerner and others that support Bush? Cause you are really scaring me now.

DJ Drummond is channeling ajc. He may have a point.

If I called the shots, I would send an emissary to President Ahmadinejad, and speak “frankly”, as the diplo’s call it. Here would be my working text:

‘For more than half a century, the United States has respected the other members of the Nuclear Club, and since your country is intent on joining, let me say ‘welcome’. You now have, by virtue of the hostility and instability of your regime, the full respect, attention and operational focus of a nation which possesses upwards of twenty thousand nuclear weapons, and the practical knowledge of their use in scenario modeling and scaled retribution options.

You have expressed the desire, perhaps rhetorically, to remove the nations of Israel and/or the United States from existence. I tell you now, quite clearly, that we will not allow this potential to approach reality. If Iran pursues the eventual ability to hurt the United States, be advised that we hold the power to destroy Iran utterly, and to end Islam as you know it if this should be required.

The United States has never sought to utterly destroy any nation; even where we have occupied enemies in the past, we always restored them and brought them to economic health and stability. But we will never surrender to threats, and if our survival requires the end of another nation we will not hesitate to use that power, and restraint will not overrule self-defense.

If you attack America with a nuclear weapon, we will destroy you.

If you attack Israel with a nuclear weapon, we will destroy you.

If a terrorist nuclear weapon goes off in either Israel or America, we will presume from your statements that you directed the attack, and we will destroy you.

Congratulations, we respect you. Enough to have thousands of megatons aimed at everything you hold dear.

Maybe I'm having a weak momment, Guy, but I don't have a problem with any of that. Mutually Assured Destruction worked well with the USSR, and Israel's security is key. Let Iran truly understand the cost of joining the "club".

But, its about deterrent-- I'm still a little worried about ajc getting the nuclear football and trying it out.

And I'd rather work to make sure Iran doesn't get the nukes in the first place.

Christianity has little to say about the world’s reality. It didn’t prevent the wars of the past anymore than it will prevent the wars of the future. I wish I could say the same for Islam...

Tom, this is not about anyone having to live someone else's ideals; this is about live and let live. The issue at hand is not what we want to do to them. It’s what they want to do to us. Therefore, any nation unwilling to live within the established world order of peace must be beat into submission. Those individuals who stand in the way will be killed and their rogue society destroyed. If some nice people get killed along the way, I'm sure they won't be any nicer than the ones killed on 911...

At the moment, the free nations of the world must decide on where they stand on this issue. As long as you’re asking, in God’s eyes it better be soon or the good people will be destroyed by the bad people!

Kendalbill, you are a slow learner… but I guess I can at least try to answer your question. I can only pray the President shares my opinions. Frankly speaking, with few exceptions I believe Guy has captured my sentiments fairly well. I would not allow Iran to ever get a nuclear bomb, and no way would I wait for the first nuke to be dropped in America or Israel before we take action.

See, ajc, we do agree. I don't want to die in a nuclear fireball either!

I must have misspoke earlier and led you to believe I did. Sorry.

(By the way, how do you do that cool stuff with the letters? I know I'm a slow learner, but maybe you show me how I can have my messages get dark and then slant and stuff too. Its so hip...)

kendabill:
Click the slanted I up above the box you are writing in, next to "post," then when you finish writing the part you want to slant, click the button again. Do that for every trait, like for bolding, click the
"B" button, then when you get to the end of what you want to bolden, click the "B" button again. Same with fonts, color, size. Unclick by going to the non-color part on the color drop-down, and click. Just remember "Click the feature, write the stuff, unclick the feature."
It IS fun!!
