This is pretty amazing. How not to fight a war on terrorism: 1-Invade a country that poses no military threat to the US. 2-Fail to secure our southern border and allow millions of illegal immigrants to enter the country, including tens of thousands of OTMs (other than Mexicans) up to who knows what. 3-Allow a country with known links to Muslim terrorists to take over operations of port facilities in the most densely populated area of the country. http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-5/1140159596307610.xml&coll=1 I don't often find myself in agreement with the likes of Lautenberg and Schumer, but this time they're right. It does seem pretty amazing. We hear that our emails and phone calls have to be data mined to detect whether we may or may not be talking to a terrorist, and we let Dubai guard our ports. I was in Panama about five years ago and was amazed to find that a Chinese (Government) owned engineering management company administered the Panama canal. I know it is a slightly different situation, but you'd think that might be of concern to some. Seems like we are arguing over the effectiveness of pursuing little preventions and let the biggies pass us right by. |

You can't let the War on Terrorism interfer with the free market system. Ok, port security is an issue, but hey business is business. |

I want to know the ties between the families running the Dubai operation and the Bush family. Something tells me there's likely a relationship. Lets you know once and for all just how committed, really committed our Pres is to national security - it is all smoke an mirrors designed to scare us and make his friends and contributors wealthy. |

"lets you know once and for all just how committed, really committed our Pres is to national security - it is all smoke an mirrors designed to scare us and make his friends and contributors wealthy." Duncan, the above sentence says it all. It's so stupid, saying "holy ignorance" gives it about as much credit as it deserves. p.s The Who sucks. |

Duncan, Look here's what you need to understand. 90% of what libs say is idiotic. You do have exceptions certainly, such as Dave or Nohero two very proud liberals. Very intelligent men who are just a little out of touch (to the left) politically speaking. You would fall under this category as well except that you're a bit of a flake. It's probably the main reason you're such a good actor. Afterall, most great actors are flakes such as Richard Dreyfus, etc. You're in great company! Now, assuming that libs are foolish, it's easy to dismiss what most say. Especially libs who want you to believe this Government is just trying to scare you. I mean, if 911, Madrid, Bali, London, etc. etc. etc. haven't concerned you, nothing will. To even suggest the war on terror is a money making scheme is just so over the top idiotic, words cannot describe the foolishness. So, when I say "holy ignorance" it's a nice way of telling someone their opinions are not worthy of intelligent debate. The Great Straw knows all and MOL is lucky he's here to educate the masses. |

Paris, I guess you don't recall - for example - the increase in the federal alert status in the days following the Democratic Convention???? This alert was based on intelligence that WAS MONTHS IF NOT YEARS OLD, can you explain how that doesn't qualify as a grotesque scare tactic created solely for political gain. Bush and his cronies are exploiting our fear when it is convenient for them to do so. IN reality if they were really keeping their eye on national security why would they allow a foreign entity from the Muslim middle east to control a port next to the largest and most economically vital city in the NE. Not to mention that NJ is second only to TX in the amount of oil and gas processed here. An explosion at the ports could have consequences that litterally shake the earth for hundreds of miles. But, hey, I'm sure one of Bushes highly qualified appointees has thoroughly researched the Dubia company and made certain their are proper oversights. Maybe that's where Micheal Brown is working these days. Oh wait Paris...let me guess... when confronted with legitimate examples of the BUsh adminstrations curruption and incompetence what is the standard response...boring???? I guess when you can refute, you retreat. |

Paris, my post was very much an exercise in sarcasm. I think that the Bushies approved the takeover because they don't want to alienate Dubai, because they claim to be against terrorism, although their actions sometimes bring that asseration into doubt. The Chairman of the company, btw, listed terrorism number six in a list of the ten major challenges the company faces.

I suppose the next move by our bold Senators and Congressmen will be to ban Emirates flights into JFK in case one of the planes is carrying an atomic bomb. |
