What the hell is Bush thinking about? Same with Cheney?

Knock, knock, there's a huge mudslide in the Phillipines, are we helping? Or is the wherewithal of this government now limited to shooting old white lawyers in the face?

It took less time to send help than it did to report the shooting.

9:25 a.m. February 17, 2006
WASHINGTON – The U.S. military on Friday dispatched at least two warships and other forces to the scene of a deadly landslide in the eastern Philippines to provide medical assistance and other relief, officials said.
The United States also is sending money requested by the Philippine government to help pay for search and rescue operations, White House spokesman Trent Duffy said. He did not say how much would be sent.

That is hardly reassuring. At any level.

Duncan is in favor of immediate response to both natural disasters and the White House Press Corps.

Well at least the White House agrees with him on one count.

Guy, how on earth do you put words in my mouth like that?? All I said was that it was hardly reassuring at any level.

Now I understand how it is you extrapolate stuff. If what you say I think came from my two sentence post, no wonder you are able to fabricate and/or read into anything posted/published.

I don't understand why we can't shoot lawyers in the face AND respond to natural disasters. Why does it have to be a choice?

We have National Guard, Marine and Navy forces in the area because of regional military exercises. The National Guard units are from Guam btw. Wonder when they get sent to Iraq?

I think Guy has a point. The U.S. dispatched some level of military assistance almost immediately after the landslide, but that action itself didn't generate big headlines.

Sbenois's original question would be better directed at the press, i.e., “There's a huge mudslide in the Phillipines, are you giving it full attention, or do you only go into convulsions when the vice president shoots somebody?”

Don't let all the Deranged Bush Syndrome get you down. Did you really expect them to say "oh, sorry" after your post....yeah right....

GOP Man -

Of course President Bush is not "deranged".

He has a perfectly good range, and he bicycles around it every chance he gets.

Besides, SLK's "Deranged Bush Syndrome" is a "female problem" that he has told us that he has "identified" through some studies that are unclear to the rest of us (at least, at this time).

Duncan , kind of ironic that a playwright would have a problem with putting words in other people's mouths.

Seriously if somebody says that what I posted is not reassuring, I look to my post not theirs for extrapolation.

Scrotey, Liberal means never having to say you're sorry.

Incorrect. We liberals say "you're sorry" all the time.

yup, liberals sure know what is good for mainstream. Too bad they can't win an election to illustrate this point....but hey, they still know better...
