Interesting item. Lots of cowards interpret their own fear as patriotism these days. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/02/19/INGDDH8E2V1.DTL |

You are a very silly lib. We should all be afraid, very afraid. Thank God President Bush is on the case, fighting them over there, so we don't have to worry about dying over here. I'm willing to give up a few of your precious rights to make sure I don't have to fear a dirty bomb. Moron libs, always wrong. |

I'm glad you are willing to give up some of my rights to protect yourself but what about giving up some of your rights? Since I don't quite trust Republicans (even though I am still registered as one) would you be willing to let the President Clinton2 place a few recorders in your house for only a few weeks so we can know if we can trust you? If you aren't doing anything wrong, there is nothing for you to worry about. Then comes the big question: after you give up some of my rights, are you any safer? The answer comes from the Bush2 administration' competence to manage anything. Does anyone remember Tora Bora? Katrina? Prescription plan? Iraqui citizens dancing in the streets to welcome American liberators? Social Security? And lets not forget quail hunting. |

Since I don't quite trust Republicans (even though I am still registered as one) How come? Do you live in Maplewood? Do you live in NJ? There is very little benefit to being registered as a Republican. Switch your registration so you can vote in Dem Primaries. You can do that Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if you can do it at Town Hall, but phone the Town Clerk and find out. Why not? If not now, when? |

Some of us still hope that the GOP will return to some level of sanity in the not to distant future. Certainly the all but certain nomination of Tom Kean, Jr. for the upcoming Senate race gives some hope and the nominination of Rudy G or McCain for President in 2008 would go a long way to bringing some of us Republicans in Democrats clothing back to the fold.

Yes, I live in Maplewood. I first registered as a Rebup. in Millburn when my father and I worked on Tom Kean (senior's) campaign for N.J. assembly with Mr. Kaltenbacker as his running mate. My parents were Rep. county committee reps. from Millburn for many years. Why not change? Hope and inertia. In reality, it probably makes little difference. |

The only way to preserve freedom is to give the president the powers he needs to fight the evildoers. anyone who believes otherwise obviously is a pathological Bush hater who hates freedom. fat lot of good your "rights" will do you when al Qaeda blows you up. don't you want the president to fight the terrorists? |

"Don't you want the president to fight the terrorists?" Yes, I do want the president to fight the terrorists. Unfortunately, he started a war in Iraq instead.

Gee, its funny. I never knew Iraq was the front on the war on terror. I always thought it was Saudi Arabia because that's where most of the terrorists came from and Afganistan because Sheik Omar was hiding Osama. Silly me! I remember how inspired I was when I saw our president in the Michael Moore film as he was reading from My Pet Goat. Then he heard that terrorists had flown planes into the W.T.C. He put down his copy of My Pet Goat, shook his fist in the air and said, "Osama Bin Ladin, I'm going to get you , you bastard." Just like John Wayne would have done except John wouldn't have used the language. But I can forgive Bush for the indescretion. After all, George was really mad that day. === Oh jeez, I'm sorry. I was just told that quote didn't come from George in the Michael Moore film. My friend believes it came from The Daily Show. This goes to show you how our minds can play tricks on us. Just like some people's minds trick them into believing Bush is doing a great job. |

Sorry, GOP Man, you can't dress up the war in Iraq as a success in the war on terror. It's a complete boondoggle. Abu Graib alone has set us back decades in trying to make progress in the Arab world.

GOP: I think you meant 'axis' not 'access' of evil... Now stop calling people names. In the article: 'Countries like the United States, with its abundance of services and equipment and the ability and experience in restoring critical functions, are well equipped to overcome an attack.' Uh, after Katrina I have NO faith that we are prepared for anything. And further down in the piece it was mentioned that workers who WERE proactive (as opposed to the political appointees at the top) are being investigated?!!! For distributing ice and sleeping bags without waiting permission from Washington? With all the planning ahead time they had they couldn't handle this? We are SO not ready!!!} |

Gop Man, looks like you trolled another one. LOL The thing you libs don't realize is that the end of the world is near and their is no need to preserve the enviornment for future generations, because there aren't going to be any future generations. I thought everybody knew this. But, I guess not? Repent before it is to late. |

Not over until it's over. Don't give up so easily. Unless you're joking (I am pretty gullible) in which case: ha ha ha... |
