Congresswoman Barbara Lee is the most senior Democratic woman on the House International Relations Committee where she serves on the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Human Rights and International Operations and the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere.
Her efforts to promote effective, bipartisan measures to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and bring treatment to the infected have earned her international acclaim as a leader in the fight against global HIV/AIDS.
Congresswoman Lee also serves on the House Financial Services Committee, where she sits on the Housing Subcommittee and the Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy.
On September 14th, 2001 Barbara Lee courageously cast her lone vote against granting the President a blank check to wage war without constraint and throughout the world.
Congresswoman Lee is up for re-election in 2006.
