Last item on the clip is interesting: Rasmussen poll gives Democrats the edge over Bush on national security -- first time since Bush has been in office. It's also highly entertaining that it's even a topic for discussion whether or not Bush knew about the port deal in advance, or whether he found out from the news.

Southerner et al will be quick to remind us that Bush won the last election. But the next one is going to count.

tom,
come on, I only use the reminder when a lib makes a completely wacky statement like "all of America hates Bush", etc, etc. Your statement is not wacky. I agree that the Repubs have fumbled this political issue (see my other posts on the other 4-5 threads on this topic). I agree that this is even a topic of discussion is bad for us conservatives. With that said, don't get to happy yet. If I recall the polls had Kerry ahead and I won't even say it.

As for your last sentence, I totally agree. Every election counts big time and the minority party always thinks the next one counts more. My prediction is the Repubs will still control Congress which is all I want (I just enjoy seeing the Dems get squashed by the Committee Chairs). So even if they lose a few seats I'll still be able to see Boxer and Biden gavelled down by guys like Stevens and Specter.

And although, this election is important, the last one put two good old conservatives on the SC for life so I think that has a little longer lasting effect than this next Congressional race. Besides if the Repubs do lose power, we can always get it back in two year. You libs will be dealing with a 5 strong conservative SC court for a long time.

Libs could take a clue from Pat Robertson and pray for them to die.
