In the key demographic group of viewers aged 25-54, the Total Day ratings for MSNBC rose 47% while Fox declined -13%.

Fox's Prime Time erosion was even greater at -21%. In fact, in every hour in the daypart, from 3:00pm till midnight, Fox numbers were lower. This is a distinction that only Fox, of the five nets surveyed, was able to achieve.

The largest decline was suffered by Greta Van Susteran's On The Record (-22%), followed closely by O'Reilly (-21%). Hannity & What's His Name took the Bronze (-17%). Of the MSNBC programs opposite those losers, Olbermann's Countdown was the biggest gainer (55%), which I'm sure doesn't bother O'Reilly at all.

The growing feud between Bill and Keith is something unique in commercial television. It has taken on a personal tone that I can't recall witnessing before. There is, however, a difference in style. While Olbermann is merciless in his mockery, he sticks to commenting on the substance of O'Reilly's program and the stupid or demonstrably false things that O'Reilly says. Billy, on the other hand, seems to respond only by pointing out that more people watch his show than Olbermann's. You know, the 2 million flies defense. But if O'Reilly isn't careful, he may soon not have even that to crow about.

This comes as no real surprise. Smart Americans are waking up to the fact that Republicans are wrong and ruining the country, not to mention embarrassing the country with scandal after scandal, so it follows that the GOP propaganda network is losing its audience. People are hungry for real news, and in Olbermann's case, presented with intelligence and a sense of humor.

False hopes in an ever blackening universe for liberals on the media.

Even granting a momentary one-ratings period movement, MSNBC is watched by NO ONE. Well, maybe 380K on a good night, but they have virtually NO AUDIENCE. CNN recently made headlines when they moved up in the 'vital 25-54 demographic that advertisers crave' compared to Fox News but you had to read into the story that overall they lost viewers to Fox.

It's not even CLOSE.

I don't like Fox myself, but so what. You'll get farther along if you stop deluding yourselves and address your situation honestly.

Here's the truth:

The Scoreboard: Tuesday, Feb. 28
25-54 demographic:

Total day: FNC: 217,000 / CNN: 113,000 / MSNBC: 76,000 / HLN: 82,000 / CNBC: 43,000

Prime: FNC: 429,000 / CNN: 140,000 / MSNBC: 121,000 / HLN: 135,000 / CNBC: 65,000

7pm: Shep: 320,000 / Blitzer: 156,000 / Hardball: 202,000 / Showbiz: 81,000

8pm: O'Reilly: 447,000 / Zahn: 98,000 / Countdown: 156,000 / Grace: 119,000

9pm: H&C: 415,000 / King: 138,000 / Rita: 105,000 / Prime News: 127,000

10pm: Greta: 425,000 / Cooper: 183,000 / Scarborough: 101,000 / Grace repeat: 160,000

11pm: O'Reilly: 311,000 / Cooper: 123,000 / Situation: 68,000 / Showbiz repeat: 135,000

Total viewers:

Total day: FNC: 825,000 / CNN: 386,000 / MSNBC: 221,000 / HLN: 201,000 / CNBC: 177,000

Prime: FNC: 1,274,000 / CNN: 482,000 / MSNBC: 295,000 / HLN: 263,000 / CNBC: 107,000

7pm: Shep: 1,274,000 / Blitzer: 621,000 / Hardball: 477,000 / Showbiz: 167,000

8pm: O'Reilly: 2,017,000 / Zahn: 525,000 / Countdown: 412,000 / Grace: 419,000

9pm: H&C: 1,606,000 / King: 807,000 / Rita: 336,000 / Prime News: 373,000

10pm: Greta: 1,566,000 / Cooper: 535,000 / Scarborough: 323,000 / Grace repeat: 328,000

11pm: O'Reilly: 1,296,000 / Cooper: 343,000 / Situation: 151,000 / Showbiz repeat: 212,000

And then, after you digest all that, you have to figure this in too. Even with a 2-3 time advantage over rivals, Fox -- and cable for that matter -- has no significant audience to speak of. 2M? Chump change.

"I don't like Fox myself, but so what"

So it isn't just liberals who dislike Fox. I'm not a liberal. I, like you, dislike Fox and hate BS and nonsense. I'm just better at spotting it. If I had time and a lot of optimism, I could teach you.

If Bush is at 38 percent popularity, it aint "liberals" who dislike him. It's regular Americans. The revolution won, and is now failing.

And if you think a major dip in ratings isn't a big deal, you haven't worked in television.

What's mildly interesting is that CNN.com dominates over Fox.com. (And Web ratings are far more accurate than TV ratings.)

There is almost no good TV news anyway. It's all empty blather. That conservatives like to watch more TV than liberals really means nothing either way.

No, it's cool. I didn't mean anything by it. Fox is doing great.

Call me crazy , but the Olympics may have something to do with it vs prime time cable.

In addition MSNBC was broadcasting the games in the daytime. Great women's curling gold medal match by the way.

Maybe Fox News can hire as its health care analysts those two "nurses" who said Terry Schiavo was fine and had lengthy conversations with her on a regular basis. That may help the ratings.

I think Steven Colbert's brilliant shtick destroys O'Reilley merely by being a spoofy mirror of the man - his demagoguery, his vanity.

O'Reilly is the type of person who has a limited shelf life. I think even many of the gullible who buy his act are getting tired of him.

I hate TV news from all networks. And I can't say that to all my family, because my brother in law is a producer for CBS network news.

I can't stand the constant sound effects on Fox. Every word seems accompanied by a swish or gong or some other inane sound. I also don't watch shows which are just one noisy guy sounding off his own opinion on every issue of the day who believes that because its HIS opinion, therefore, its a fact. If I want that - I'll engage my husband in a political discussion }

themp -- so you work in television? Or do your friends work in television news and have seen their ratings drop for the last 20 years and that's why a dip of any sort is enough for them to start passing out resumes one more time.

Look at the big picture. Fox is not in trouble. CNN, MSNBC and the Big Three are the ones in trouble. You're also in a non-election year and news cycles of stories that go on for weeks at a time. NSA for 3 weeks. Cheney for 2 weeks (god, what a waste of time). Katrina re-do this week. Notice how ratings jump when big things happen and when news is soft, so are the ratings?

It could be a telling and hopeful sign for you, but you're way, way too early to start salivating.

Correction -- you're in an election year that hasn't started heating up yet.
