Thanks, Bush, for continually worrying about our safety over crony deals...

Al Qaeda warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it "infiltrated" key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the U.S. military.

The warning was contained in a June 2002 message to UAE rulers, in which the terror network demanded the release of an unknown number of "mujahedeen detainees," who it said had been arrested during a government crackdown in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

If Clinton supports it that's interesting but doesn't snap us back to some kind of party line. Unlike you guys, we don't fall into lockstep behind Fearless Leader.

What are you saying Straw? That suddenly you approve of Bill's instincts? That if Bill supports the ports deal then it's okay? It's cool with you if a government that was infiltrated by terrorists is buying our ports? Sounds like you are weak on terror, therefore you must hate America.

I think it is wrong that he would support it, fortunately the one Clinton with a vote doesn't.

I am saying that libs can't get their act in gear.. They support Iraq/they don't support Iraq..

They support UAE/they don't support UAE..

A broken record already...The most powerful Democrat of our time is telling the left including his wife to pipe down...

Straw, you've said that you don't support the proposed deal, either. As I recall, your cogent explanation at the time was that "Americans don't want it."

Have you changed your opinion?

No, he's not.

But what IS happening is the Repubs are looking like a bunch of pansies on homeland security/war on terror all because Bush is steadfastly intent on pushing this crony deal through. Who cares if Al Qaeda infiltrated the UAE, they gave Neil millions... Really shows where his true motives lie.

Clinton supports deal.
Bush supports deal.
Bush Sr. supports deal.
Carter supports deal.
I don't

Libs on the other hand now have no clue what to support since Clinton/Carter say yes.

RL,

if the Repubs are looking like pansies over HS over the last two weeks, imagined what the Dems looked like over the last 5 years...

Give me a freaking break...

Well, those five years are over. Dems were painted into a corner by flag-waiving warmongers, no doubt. But that's all about to change. With this deal, America is finally getting a peak behind the curtain to see what drives the Bush machine: cronyism. Bush cherishes his crony deals more than he does national security. You better believe this will affect the GOP. There's a reason Bush's own party members are running full-speed away from him on this.

Hey, here's a shocker. The Bush administration never probed the port deal for terror ties, and lied to the American people about it.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/01/port.security/index.html

"Rep. Peter King of New York, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said officials from the Homeland Security and Treasury departments told him weeks ago that their 30-day review of the deal did not look into the question of links between DP World and al Qaeda.

"King said the officials told him after he asked about investigation into possible terrorist ties: "Congressman, you don't understand, we don't conduct a thorough investigation. We just ask the intel director if there is anything on file, and he said no."

"There was no real investigation conducted during the 30-day period," King, who has been a vocal critic of the deal, told CNN. "I can't emphasize this enough,"

"King's comments appear to contradict testimony by administration officials before Congress this week that a through review of any terrorism ties had occurred during the initial review of the deal."
