I can't speak for Steel's intentions or point of view, but, for me at least, two of the pictures are "worth a thousand words."

However, if you're stubbornly blind to incompetence, ineffectiveness, inefficiency, and to the effects of rampant cronyism, those two particular pictures won't mean a thing to you.

in my always most humble opinion (yeah, sure)

I didn't think I would editorialize beyond the above graphics but briefly:

My "intent" should not really matter. It's just all an expression/reaction to all the comically tragic and tragically comic goings-on that go on and on.

As a for instance:
In the first post above, -that is one of the ACTUAL slides that Colin Powell used at the U.N. as "evidence".
-Decide for yourselves if that is "funny". Go ahead. Go back and look at that slide, and think about where we and Iraq are now and tell me if it's funny. It is certainly ridiculous. And no less are the latest machinations.

And yes, now that the Taliban is "dead" the heroin trade via U.S. market is in full swing again and yes, that is an actual niece of Osama Bin Laden's who has decided to be a model/temptress for American cameras.
-Decide for yourselves if all that is "funny".

And yes, the not-exactly-gone-Saddam decided recently that the thing to do was to go on a "hunger strike" while... the rest goes on at what price for what?
-Decide for yourselves what that is.

-Chernoff. Brown. blah-bla-blah-blah blah.

You didn't want to editorialize, but then some unknown magical force compelled you to.

I don't have a problem with anything posted as that is why we have this type of board, but please, don't say something and then in the next sentence do the opposite. Just say, you wanted to editorialize and have at it.

Dear Southerner,

-Out of all the stuff above you seemed to be mysteriously compelled to comment on a most curious non sequitur.

-Obviously, (I would have thought) what I meant was that I had initially simply wanted to post the picture commentary but then the first two people to respond had a question and so I felt "compelled" to overcome my reluctance. Is that all cleared up for you now? Is that ok with you too? I certainly hope that you don't have a "problem" with it further.

-Please feel free to carry on with your usual rote display of jovial "team-jersey-who's-winning?" perspective. We never tire of it, or at least I'm certain that you never will until a better game comes along.

Steel. I get the point now. I think the copy in the strip needs rework to convey the points more clearly. I’m sympathetic to the message, but needed someone to connect the dots for me. People who are on the fence are likely to just blow it off. For instance some sort of flag stating that the graphic of the truck was an actual graphic used in Powell’s United Nation’s WMD address would have helped.

Tom:

Naaah, naah, you're way off on the cartoon above.

I'm sick and tired of people comparing GWB to RMN.

A crooked, somewhat corrupt president like Nixon is different from Bush.

As I have labored to say a number of times, it takes competence, intelligence, craftiness, guile, to have a crooked adiministration. And a little imagination too.

It takes none of those things to have an incompetent administration and to "lead" the country with a consummate lack of direction and strategy.

It takes only an incompetent person to do so, especially when that person surrounds himself with cronies and other incompetents.

Let's not besmirch the proud history of dishonesty and corruption that has been hard won by RMN and other politicos of both major parties. Let's give them their due.

And let's keep this incompetent administration where it deserves to be: in a category all by itself.

That's where the "minus brains" comes in. But I know what you mean.
