Today, SOMA Stop the War is holding an anti-war peace march and rally, to draw attention to the third anniversary of the Iraq War and the continuing deception and incompetence that keeps us there.

http://www.somastopthewar.us/

12 Noon on the park side of the Maplewood Train Station, ending at Ricalton Square, where a rally will include speeches by town officials, readings of winning essays from our "My Generation" essay contest by Columbia High School Students, and more!

Invtited to attend is Sue Niederer, the mother of a fallen U.S. soldier in Iraq.

You may think so, but the 100+ people who showed up, marched, listened to live music, listened to high school student essay winners, listened to Vic DeLuca, showed solidarity, and got interviewed by major media certainly didn't seem to think so.

They'll find out in a few days because there were several photographers and writers, but for sure a broadcast reporter from News 12 New Jersey, who did on-camera interviews. Also, the local paper and another local news reporter. They're also following up with the Maplewood reporter for the Star-Ledger. For a grass-roots event, that's pretty good.

News 12? Isn't that UHF?

Bottom line, I hope you enjoyed the get together. It looked a little light in participants but at least the folks that attended cleaned up after themselves.

(For the record, Vic was there because news 12 was there)

For the record, you don't know what you're talking about. And if you happened to notice, then it must not have been "boring" after all.

Hey News 12 is not UHF and, in fact, reaches 1,700,000 households as of a 1999 study.
Not too shabby.
And Straw...even if you disagree you have to love that this country openly allows dissent and that the participants only worry is that the FBI now has a file on all of them.

Of course I noticed. My young son had a funny one liner. He basicly said protesting in Maplewood is like a tree falling in the forest.

He believes you'd be better off demonstrating in DC where your collective voices might make a difference.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

And how was the turnout at the pro-war rally?

Lights, camera, Vic...

(His next campaign slogan)

I'm sure Vic supports the cause and that's just fine with me. Doesn't change my opinion of the man. I still like him.

What logo? (Of course if I had to guess I would say no, I don't like it. )

There was a protest in Maplewood this weekend? You could of fooled me....

So much for the "anger" of the populace as many war protest around the country/world were pretty much dead.
